Question about O'ing, cycle lengths...

Ok, so I have no idea if this is something simple to answer or what, but it has come to mind recently when I've read about women who have extremely long cycles.

In a "perfect" cycle, it would be 28 days with O on day 14. Right?
So, if someone has a 36, 40, etc day cycle, does that mean that they O'd 14 days before AF arrives?
So, does a woman not have AF until she has O'd X days before that?
I guess what I'm really wondering is, how does O and AF work? Is there a certain number of days before one happens and then the other can happen..or is it just one of those things that every woman's body is different..
Am I even making sense?

For me, my cycles are almost always 28-30 days long. It is the odd month out if I AF shows up earlier or later. And if she does, there is usually something that has happened that month that I can tie the reason to. And since I am not temping (at least for a few more months), I'm wondering that if I have a 28 day cycle, does that mean I O on the 14th day, or?
Anyway, off to bed for me, it's getting late. LOL

From the research I have done and all the info on the boards...your fp (first part of your cycle..starting first flow day of af.).can vary...and you lp(phase after o is usually the same each cycle...approx 14 days after o! hope this helped alittle...gl

PP is right, except that not everyone has a 14 day luteal phase. Mine is typically around 10-11. It can run from 10-16 days for most women.
