Stephanie, just curious if you have had any of the initial fertility testing done or not. I'm in cycle 8 now and we are scheduled for the intial testing next cycle if no results this month.
I think you actually need your dosage bumped up, not extended. My RE says Clomid is effective and considered a success if you o within 10 days of taking the last pill. You are oing way beyond that. Personally, I think you need to be on a higher dose, either 100mg or even 150mg. Did a RE put you on the 50mg? Most RE's start with 100mg, whereas the OBs tend to start low and slow, so I'm just wondering.
Judging by your cycles, I don't think going off the Clomid would help. I would ask about going up to the next dose.
We've had lab work, an HCG and an SA for DH done. Everything for me came back normal. DH's first SA came back with less than 1% normal sperm morphology, but his second had him back into the range of normal. After that result the Dr gave me his blessing to try naturally for 3 cycles before trying
We havent actually seen an RE yet. My Og/Gyn prescribed the Clomid. My CD 21 blood work this cycle showed that I O'd, so he said I won't need to increase the dosage. Do you think I should insist on a higher dose? I wasn't under the impression that it increased my odds of getting pg at all.
I personally would insist on wanting to try a higher dose. If you're not o-ing within ten days of the last pill, the Clomid is not doing the job it should be (selecting a lead follicle(s) within an appropriate amount of time and maturing it). Your OB is right that going to a higher dose, if you don't need it, is counterproductive since it can affect your lining and mucous. However, your chart still shows delayed ovulation, meaning that Clomid is not working as well as it could or should. I would try a higher dose, and see if it moves up your o date. Are you getting u/s monitoring with it?
I hope Clomid does the trick for you! I tried it early on in my IF journey. My OB prescribed 50mg, and made it sound like it was such a huge step. I saw my RE for a consultation a few days later, and he prescribed 100mg instead. We had unimpressive results (I took it days 3-7, and was triggered on Cd19), so we decided to move onto to injectibles. It didn't work for me, but it does for so many people (especially if you are truly annovulatory).
Good luck! I can't wait to see your BFP post soon :-)
And I am unsure if you will O or not.
Good luck.
