Question of the day!! (Please answer even if you already stay home, ect.)

To return to work or to stay home????

When you get preggers and have you baby do you plan to return to work (if you working now) or stay home!?!

Or are you going to do a combination like work part time/stay home part time,

DH work part time/you work part time,

Or you or DH stay home

I am absolutely going to stay home, at least for the first few years! DH and I decided that a long time ago. I will still go to school full-time till I get my masters degree, but that's a little bit more flexible than working. I would love to home-school, but that decision can't be made until my kids are actually born and old enough for me to know if it will benefit them.
The bills are difficult to pay sometimes, and we struggle pretty bad some months, but we both feel that as long as we have food and a roof over our heads, a 2nd income is far less important than the extra time spent with the kids. As for insurance, DH carries it.
Great post! :)

When I had my DS I became a SAHM for about the firt year and a half of his life and then went back to work... with this next baby, I plan to work till I cant and be off for at least the first 6 weeks and then go back to work but if DH gets a better job by then then he wants me stay home and raise our kids like I always wanted to, so it just depends on what happens while Im pregnant.

I have health insurance through my work.

And we are starting to save money so that when I do go on maturnity leave we wil be able to pay our bills till I go back!

Hi there,

After I have my baby, I will be staying home for a year (I live in Canada and my job pays 93% of my salary for one year- some jobs offer more or less salary and/or time, the min being 6 months paid I believe) After that, if it's financially possible, I want to stay home for a couple of years, then go back to work part-time.(I'm allowed to take up to 5 years without pay to stay with my kids and still keep my job)

The only thing, I want to have maybe 2 or 3 kids and I would love to be done by 35. So, if I can do it, after my year maternity leave, I would go back to work part-time and TTC right away and after my second maternity leave, I would most likely stay home.

I'm looking into different ways I could start a home business...that would be the best thing! Worst scenario, I go back to work part-time (7h30 to 12h30).

In terms of health insurance, the basic health care is not linked to your job here, so working or not I don't have to worry about it. My work insurance allows me to get 93% of my salary (it varies from job to job) and pays for expenses like glasses, massages, dentist, single room at the hospital...

This is one thing I've been dreading since we have been trying to conceive. I am the main income and where I work you are not allowed to be pregnant. Not sure if they will transfer me somewhere else or give me my walking papers. The insurance we carry is in my name as well. Soooo you can see my dilema. We can not make it without my income but I'm not going to give up having a baby because of it. We will end up giving up some luxuries as well as a vehicle, credit ding on my husband and possibly moving into a more affordable home. We will also look into getting insurance through his work. I am in the process of obtaining some different experience so I can go to work somewhere else while pregnant if anyone is willing to hire a preggy person. If not then we will take it one day at a time and when I can get back on my feet work something out. Right now he works 2nd and I work 1st so we take care of the kids we do have without help from a daycare.

Your very inspirational. I like you attitude. :) So you stay home already? While you go to school?

I talked to my Best bud today about this and she thinks i can do it. She said that we just need to put our minds to it.

I'm primary breadwinner in our family, so will definitely have to go back to work.
