Just wondering how will your insurance handle your pg, birth, baby well visits, or any ART you might need? I think mine is pretty good. Let me know.

$10 copay for 1st prenatal visit - 100% after

$40 copay for hospital - 100% after

$15 copay for all well baby visits

-Up to 6 ART procedures (all covered)

-Any prescripts for infertility will be $10 copay

-No length of time needed before ARTs are covered.

In case this is really good (I think it might be)my insurance carrier is United HealthCare Enhanced Plan (PPO).

I'm in HR so this kind of stuff is of interest to me, or it's becuase I'm crazy and already know this stuff.

Just curious to see where we all fall.

I agree Kim! And the tax structure in Canada is a lot higher than ours (we think we pay a lot in taxes? Canadians pay more!) What's more... Canada's healthcare system is "socialized" (as in... socialist). Let's not get so excited about socialism guys.

I agree...we do pay more in taxes.

Our health care is simply single teered....so everyone gets the same treatment regardless of their income level. Instead of in the States that you only get good treatment if you can afford it. There are certainly good and bad with both systems.

i've got a military husband and military insurance. with the insurance we have its got two ways it works, if i use a civilian hospital for anything i have to pay up to 50% for i dunno what, but if i use the military hospital(which is what i plan for when we get that BFP) all i'd pay for is the food i'd eat while there. i'll have to check more into it later i'm in hte middle of deciding whether to go to a military doctor of stay with the one i've been assigned to since my last doctor was dropped from the insurance i use. ughhhh too much stress on that. my hubby is lucky he gets everything for free.......;)

My dh is in the military also however everything is covered for me. I did not pay one cent to have ds...and that was in a civillian hospital. We are no where near a base right now and we have civillian docs and we never pay a copay even for pediatrician. We were near a base for ds birth but there was no navy hosp. We just had general docs there so for anything like peds or ob's we got to go out in town again no fees. I dont' understand why you are having to pay so much. Ds and I have Tricare Prime. If you dont' you might wanna consider switching...it is much better tahn extra or standard.

the misconception is that it's "free". It is not free, everyone pays more in taxes and basically pays for everyone else.

If it gives you any idea my hospital bill with DS was $9000. So you could end up paying $1000 out of pocket, as a 10%. Usually a fixed rate is better than a percentage :-(

I'm glad that you asked about insurance, I didn't even know what coverage I had. I just spent a half hour rumaging through my closet to find my info.

I think my coverage is pretty good

No office visit charges

No charge for the hospital stay

Infertitlity treatments $10 per visit

No charge for lab tests or procedures.

I have HMO Blue New England.

Thanks for kicking my butt in gear to look into this.

Well...my insurance is not too bad once I'm PG...will cover office visits for a $20 copay...and then the hospital delivery pays 100% after $150 deductible.

BUT...in the meantime, they won't pay anything for infertility treatments or even consultations to talk about getting pregnant. I had an appointment a few weeks ago to talk to my doc about TTC and I'm having to pay for that totally myself...and it won't pay for the Progesterone I'm taking...which is $75.00 for a two-week supply.

I sure hope I can get PG without any more help than the progesterone! We certainly can't afford any major infertility treatment.

i have Tricare Prime, but my last doctor either was under something or over something because last year for a normal physical and pap smear i paid about 400 out of pocket in two separate bills and tricare never covered anything. they've assigned me to a new doctor and i'm going to question it when i get an appointment since i stopped working to go to school i've lost a lot of my own money...now my dh is working two jobs so as he says i don't have to get one or go thru the stress i went thru with the two jobs i'd held the year we got married. hopefully this time i don't have to wait a year again to talk to a doctor on why i can't get pregnant. since my dh is cover entirely we're going to find out if the problem is with him and not me.....wish me luck that he sets the appointment.
