Question that may be TMI!

DH and I are TTC #4 (2 living and one still born 9/08). Since we're busy chasing our kids we BD when we get the chance! When my EWCM showed up we BD'd right away, but time didn't afford me the luxury of lying down for 20 mins. I'm SURE that I was fertile when we did it, but nervous that I didn't get the chance to let the swimmers SWIM!

I know I'm REALLY over thinking things here, but HELP!

Here's my two cents on the Instead Cup...

I tried it a few times when I had my period and thought it was awful! I leaked (gross!)! So when I heard that some people were suggesting using it to conceive I felt like it'd be more hassle than it was worth. The thing about the cup is that (unlike a diaphragm) it doesn't "hug" up to your cervix--it has a soft "cup" that hangs down to "collect." *I can't believe I am writing all of this--it sounds SO disgusting!*

BUT, if I WERE going to use it in hopes of conceiving, I'd have him "deliver the goods" the old fashioned way, lay there for a while, and then use the cup when it was time to get up.

Don't get me wrong...we're all here TTC, so we'll use whatever methods may help us to get our little bundles! GOOD LUCK to everyone!

By having DH ejaculate into the cup, wouldn't air kill off some sperm? For some reason, I remember hearing that. I might be wrong, so if anybody knows for sure. Let me know.

Also, I think that your DH would get the sperm closer to the opening of the cervix, than by using the cup only method.

I don't know if exposing the swimmers to the air does anything, but I completely agree with you about having better luck if the swimmers are put there the old fashioned way.

Don't you just love how we entertain all of these ideas, all in the name of making a baby?!?

Definitely coming into this conversation from the outside would make someone really confused! Whatever baby voodoo works, right?

I have never tried this, but I guess it sounds good

I wouldn't have your DH put the sperm in the cup because you have to squeeze it closed to put it in, then when you let go it springs open and sort of hugs your cervix and I would imagine a lot would spill out during the squeeze through the vaginal canal. Lol, it is much easier to get it out if you are sitting down so you can sort of catch the rim with your finger and slide it out face up so its not quite as messy. I considered using these while TTC#1 (still trying) but because my wife and I are TTC with donor sperm from a bank and we can't really afford to buy a huge amount of sperm every month, I called a fertility clinic that specializes in lesbian pregnancies and they told me I'd be more likely to

Femmelaw, your situation puts a whole new spin on it that I never thought about--see, and I just assume we all have lots of swimmers at our "disposal!" Good luck to you and your wife!!!

Thanks also for the great rolling "technique!" I will SO be trying that next month if I'm not knocked up this month!

Best of luck, ladies!!!!
