Question for those who've been on clomid

This is really insane. Okay, this is cycle 9 for me. All my other cycles, I O'd regularly, had great CM. But because I'm still not pg (and I'm getting close to being 34 yrs. old, already have another child, and was BD'ing at all the right times), my dr. put me on 50mg of clomid, in hopes that it would make sure I had "good" ovulation and it would straighten out my somewhat short & erratic LP.

Well, here I am, waaaaay into my cycle, with no EWCM (I did list one day as having some ... although it was a tiny bit), and no O. Oh, I had tons of O pain, but that was a long time ago. In fact, I had O pain for longer than I've ever had it before ... days and days. But my temps aren't showing any O.

Has anybody else on clomid (who was O'ing before) been messed up by it? And as far as the CM goes ... has anybody tried that Preseed stuff?

This is driving me NUTS.

TIA,

Jona

I'm on my 2nd cycle of Clomid 50mg, and it's been great for me so far. It's quite common, however, to O on CD18 or even later in your cycle, so it's possible that you'll O later. I know I've read from people who ovulated regularly that the Clomid made them ovulate later than usual.

I don't know how to explain your O pain or your EWCM. Maybe your body was thinking about Oing, but didn't go through with it. Try to hang in there and see what the next week brings. I don't think CD18 or later is too late. Also, here's a link to the Clomid message board:

Good luck to you!

I am on my first cycle of Clomid. (Taking my last pill tonight)

I have read alot about Clomid, and it seems that Clomid plays a part in "drying up" your CM. I am worried about this myself because I dont have any of the preseed and dont really know what else to try.

I also read that it is very common to O later than usual when taking Clomid.

The Clomid board is a great place to post and read - I have learned alot from it this past week.

Good luck to you!

Hi Jona,

I'm on my second cycle of Clomid as well. I Oed about two days later with the Clomid than without. CM is terrible with clomid; and it is one of the side effects. Before taking it, I had at least one good day of EWCM. Now it is watery at best. They say that taking the recommended doses of robitussen (the plain stuff in the green bottle, only active ingredient is guafinasen) helps, as does drinking V8 splash. I did both this cycle, and did notice a slight difference than the first cycle on clomid.

I took 2 tsp. robi. 3 x daily and drank about 16 oz. of V8-splash starting at day 10 and continuing now through O. It is NASTY, I kid you not, but if it helps and the end result is the child we've been dreaming of, I'll do it.

Some other not-so-pleasant side effects of clomid that I experienced were symptoms that are very similar to pregnancy symptoms. (sore breasts, fatigue, bloating.) Some women have side effects, some don't. I'm just one of the 'lucky ones.'

Is your doctor monitoring to see when/if you've Oed? I go back on day 21 for a progesterone blood test to make sure I Oed. This last cycle my levels were over 30, so the drug did its job!

Hopefully this info. will help you... I hope we both get our bfps this cycle. It's #10 for DH and I. It's been quite a journey!

Fingers and toes crossed for you!

Thank you so much! You know, your post was really helpful. It's good to know that maybe I'm just going to O late due to clomid. And I had no idea there was a special board for those of us using it.

Thanks, & GL!

Thanks for your input ... you're the 2nd person to say they've heard clomid might make you O later ... I'd never heard that til now. Good to know!

And wouldn't you know it ... today I've got better CM. So maybe my body's gearing up to O finally!

Thanks again!

:)

Thanks for the feedback. I've been worried about my CM. But later in the day today, I noticed that it's improved ... it's pretty close to EW. So maybe I'm getting ready to O finally! I'll just see how this month goes. Earlier on I was taking the Robitussin (around the time I thought I'd be ovulating), and it did nothing at all. Dry as a bone. So I'm just going to leave the rest of this month alone, and maybe next month try the robitussin, green tea, and nasty V8. I hate that stuff too!

At the end of 3 cycles, if I haven't conceived, my OB/GYN will refer me to a specialist. I figure he'll be the one to check hormone levels or whatever. Or see if my tubes are gummed up ... it's been a while since they've been used!

GL!

Hey, your LP is kind of all over the map, like mine is! I thought it was supposed to remain more or less the same from month to month. But mine's been as short as 8 days and as long as 13.

I had no temp spike this a.m., so don't know if I'm going to O later, or if it's just not happening at all this month. It seems so dumb, since I was O'ing before. But now that I'm on the drugs, I don't! I haven't been doing the OPK's regularly this month. I was earlier on, around the time that I'd normally O. But then I stopped, since I got really busy and then we took a small vacation. So I'm totally relying on my temps this month.

Well, here's hoping this doesn't drive us crazy!

:)
