Hi Laura-
Are you using Fertility Friend? If so, I would recommend taking the online charting course- it is awesome and really gives you a lot of background about charting! As for your questions,
1. Your new cycle starts on the first day of full blown flow- where you need a tampon or pad.
2. You can defnitely confirm ovulation through temping and can sometimes predict it, but most of the time your temps will show when you have already Oed, which is when your temps spike up to a new level or temp range. The more accurate way to predict O is to watch your cervical fluid, which changes dramatically when you are approaching ovulation. The charting course will teach you all about thedifferent kinds of CF and how to tell the difference between as well as how to look for it!
3. I never O on the same day and my cycles are always different lengths. The luteal phase, the time from ovulation to period is always the same, but I ovulate on different days within a small window each month- usually somewhere between cd's 15-19. If your body cycles are influenced by stress more than others, then you o date will change. It is normal to have a cycle fluctuation of 5 days according to my ob/gyn.
Hope this helps!
