RE results, am I nuts???

I just came back from the consult with the RE to review all my test results. Both DH and I had the works done - results were all 100% normal.

I think I should be ecstatic that there is nothing wrong yet the news made me feel worse. Both sister told me that I should be thrilled but I have even more worries now then before. If I'm fine then why is it taking so long to happen??

I was hoping there was something that they could say was the problem, at least then I would have some type of reason. When he said I go into the "Unexplained" category I cringed.

I am so upset right now, I want to scream!

My perinatologist told me that even if I went through the full panel of tests, there was only a 20% chance that he'd find anything that might indicate a problem. And then, if they did find something, there's no guarantee that what they find is actually the problem. So we went through some of the basic, less invasive tests to see if we could find a cause for my 3 m/cs but all came back normal. I'm like you... would you rather find a problem you can fix or find no problem at all but have no explantion? I hope you get a nice, surprise BFP soon!

Kathy

I also fall into that "unexplained" category. It's so frustrating. While I guess it's good that they can't find anything wrong, it's like I almost want them to so that I have some sort of answer as to why I'm not getting pg after over 2 years of trying. I, like you, know that sounds like the craziest thing in the world!! It's even harder to see everyone around you getting pg so easily. I just really wanted to tell you that what you feel is normal. I think every women who hears that diagnosis of "unexplained" goes thru that. It's like, NO there has to be a reason. One day when we are like 90 they'll probably come up with some reason all of us "unexplained" people didn't get pg on our own, why can't they move faster??? LOL. I did read somewhere though that a large number of couples with unexplained infertility will get pg on their own with in 3 years. I don't know about you, but that is a long time to wait! Anyway, good luck to you. What is your next step??? Just wondering, maybe I can help. I've had every test known to man, 4 IUI's, and now saving for IVF. But I know it will all be worth it one day! :)

I've been waiting for your appt update to see how it went.....geez ya can't really win either way can you? I'm sorry you weren't able to get any answers, kathy. That is frustrating. What all did he test? Can you give me a line up and waht your results were for each? I have this urge to say be patient and it will happen, but if someone said that to me I'd probably want to rip their head off!LOL!

Tara did not say be patient and it will happen so don't rip her head off!!! Me personally I think I'll just shoot the next person that says, "you need to stop trying so hard and relax!" My dh is a cop you know, I could hide the body and no one would ever find it LOL!!!

Thanks for the kind words.

Tara--opps! I guess I should have posted in Appt area! I'll be good next time I promise :):)

The doctor didnt really give me specific test results. The tests they did were ABO, RH, DHEAS, Estradil, FSH, LH, Prolactin, RPR, RUbella & TSH. I also had the HSG and DH had his SA.

He just said all the results were normal & the HSG was great. I wish I had more specific info for you. We are going to try on our own until 1/04 then if needed IUI's & Chlomid.
