reg cycle = ovulation?

I have a VERY regular 28 day cycle. In my 13 years of getting periods, I have maybe been a day late once or twice - but NEVER missed a period. Anyways...I'm really nervous as to why I'm not getting pregnant with such a reg cycle. BF and I haven't had safe sex for 3 years, but still no baby!

I guess what I'd like to know is how common is it to have regular periods, but not be ovulating and releasing an egg? I know this happens mostly in women with irregular cycles....

This is the first cycle that I started charting BBT and CM...

Thanks!

Hi Angie. From what I have read, it is highly unlikely that you would have such regular cycles unless you are ovulating. It is perfectly normal to not ovulate here and there, but usually women who are not ovulating for an extended period of time begin to realize something is wrong bc their cycles get longer. For instance, my SIL had a 55 day cycle, and found out she has PCOS-a condition which causes many women to stop ovulating. Most women have very irregular cycles with this condition. So, the short answer is that you are prob ovulating, and you would be amazed how you prob just had the timing off all these years and therefore did not get pg. Also, not to be pessimistic, but other things can interfere with getting pg, such as blocked tubes or a low sperm count. Once you have tried to get pg for 6 months to a year, then you need to see a doc. Otherwise, everything is most likely fine. GL

The fact that you are very regular (I assume without any birth control) suggests that you are probably ovulating. Its not 100% but very likely. You could be ovulating at a different time than you think though. Don't assume that you ovulate on day 14. It could easily be a few days before or after that time. Its good that you are starting to chart, that will show you what your regular cycle is, for example it might show you that you O on day 12 or day 16, then you can plan your BD a little better next cycle. Since you have been having regular unprotected sex for over a year, you could call the doc and schedule a fertility workup. They will probably test your hormones and your DH sperm count/quality first. THose are the easy things. Best of luck to you!

You're most likely O'ing... but if you've been at this for three years without any luck, contact your doctor's office for an infertility consultation. Probably the first thing they'll want to do will be to run a semen analysis on your BF.

Good luck to you!

i can kind of understand what you are going through, i have

an unregular schedule and it took me 6 years to have my 2nd

child. and i had gotten pregnant back in May and lost it

after trying for 3 years. it was my first loss.

anyways,

i came up with this schedule for my months after my pms.

the day my pms ends i get on a schedule for sex.

the first monday that would come after pms i would start

it would then be like this, the sex schedule:

monday-wednesday-friday-saturday

doing it this way, how can you miss

your ovulation day.

give it a shot and see what happens.

but having that much sex can become

quit boring, just to let you know.

let me know how it goes

email me at teetee0803@aol.com

well good luck!!!!!!!

Thank you for all your help! I have an appt for my yearly on Nov 3, but I'll call them and tell them I'd like some hormone testing as well. I've read a lot about low progesterone and I have a lot of the symptoms, so maybe it's something as simple as that!

About my boyfriend....he doesn't have health insurance, but I do. Does anybody know if a semen analysis would be covered under my insurance - probably not :( - since we are checking "our" fertility? Or if not, anybody have any idea how much it costs to have a semen analysis done at the drs? Or anybody ever tried the at home analysis kits you can get at Target (about $43)? Sheesh! So many questions! I appreciate all the info!
