Results of 2nd blood test in...

Well girls. The results are in and they are not good. My HcG levels have gone down to 11.4 and my progesterone level is at 0.8. The nurse said that I have more than likely miscarried already. She was somewhat confused as to why my levels were still as high as they were though. I stopped bleeding on Tuesday and I'm still showing hormone levels. She wants me to come back in next week to make sure my levels are in the negative.

Now what, they said it's standard to wait two cycles before trying again. Why? And, how do I count my cycle now? She said that I may or may not have an AF this month. After a m/c do you still feel some cramping for awhile? The nurse I normally talk to wasn't there today so I talked with another one. She didn't have a lot of answers to my questions.

Thanks for all the prayers and wishful thoughts. There's always next month, or the next, right? :)

(((HUGS))))Susan. They will want to make sure your levels drop right down case you are in need of a d&c- caused by your body not ridding itself of what it should. There are differing opinions from Drs on waiting or not waiting after a m/c- particularly and early one. I have had two myself and my Dr advised me to do whatever was best for me mentally and emotionally, but there is no medical reason to NOT ttc again. You will of course want to make sure that your body is back to normal and the levels are gone. There is also a significant increase in the chance of pg in the cycle or 2 following an early m/c....proven fact. GL to you- and I'm so sorry for your loss. You are almost there though and must look at it positively- the egg was released, met the sperm and implanted...one more step to go and you're all set!

****STICKY****BFP vibes for the cycle ahead!

I don't have any answers to your questions, but I would call the nurse that you usually speak with next time she's in the office. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Good Luck,

HUGE HUGS SUSAN!!!

You and I sound like we would be good buddies for a while! I just went through my 3rd m/c and I just stopped bleeding on Wednesday.

To answer your questions - here is what I was told JUST MONDAY! Since this is my 3rd, I wanted to know WHY I have to wait 2 cylces. Here is the info my midwife told me:

they gave me three reasons why SOME couple MIGHT CHOOSE to wait, but stated that there are NO real risks to the mother or baby by TTC right away, and in fact said your chances are at their absolute best right after a m/c - the first 2 cycles afterwards.

Here are the reasons:

1)When you are pg., your body "steals" a lot of nutrients from you to give to your baby. When you m/c, it takes just about 2 months to get those levels back up to normal. I told my m/w that I have been taking pre-natal pills for 4 months now, plannning for the TTC phase and she said I should be fine. If you are going to TTC, just start taking a multi-vitamin... probably just a pre-natal, so when you and I DO conceive this month, you'll already have your pre-natals! :-)

2)There is a SLIGHT increased risk of a subsequent m/c due to a slightly irritated and inflamed uterus.

3) There is an increased "risk" (I don't see it as a risk at all!) of multiple ovulations, therefore, multiple babies (if DH's sperm does it's job also!) I count that as a blessing... not a risk.

We decided we are going to try. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT MY CYLCE IS... but I am just counting from the first day that I bled. So, I would be on CD13 today... I hope! This weekend, I should see some CM. This is my 3rd m/c, but the last 2 I never asked questions... I just followed my dr's orders - so I never watched if I O'd right afterwards. I hope I O this w/e! We are going to be doing a lot of BD'ing this w/e!!!

Do you want to buddy up with me? I hope these helped you make your decision... or at least answer some questions for you. And again, I'm so sorry for your loss!

Bethanee, I would love to buddy up. Thanks for all the information from your midwife. My first day of bleeding was 8/29 so if I count the bleeding like a cycle, I should ovulate sometime this week, probably around the 11th. I've also been taking a multi-vitimin since about a month before we started trying. I think we'll probably try again this month too if I can figure out when I ovulate. I started charting for the first time ever when I started what I thought was my AF on the 29th. My temps have been all over the place (not sure I really understand what I'm doing). Anyway, I did have a pretty major temp drop on Thursday with some sticky (you almost could ball it up - I know TMI) on Friday. Temps have been rising since. Wouldn't it be too early to ovulate? I've read that you could ovulate 2 weeks after a m/c but that would be at the most a week. Anyway, I'm also concerned that I'm still having some cramping and that my levels are still elevated. I think I'm going to get a blood test on Tuesday to make sure my levels are down to normal before we start trying.

Keep me posted with what's going on with you. Maybe we could be pg buddies too.

By the way, I don't know if I mentioned this, but this will be my second.

Thank you Desire'. I was thinking the same, but wanted to hold out hope. I just didn't feel pregnant. I felt that something was going on, but I just didn't have the strong symptoms like I did with my first pregnancy, even though I was experiencing symptoms. Plus, after bleeding, which I never had done with my first one, I thought there might be a serious problem. Anyway, thanks for all of your help. I really appreciated it and I needed to know something. The waiting was killing. I'm doing okay. I prepared myself for the worst and even though I still shed a few tears yesterday, I feel it happened for a reason. Good luck to you and keep me posted on how things are going.

Thank you again,

Susan
