My husband and I have decided to try for our 2nd child and I was wondering if anybody has tried one of those Saliva Ovulation Predictor Kits. Do they work or are they a waste of money? Thanks!

Hey Leanne

I bought one...and I got very frustrated with it! There were days when I got full ferning that I was nowhere near O. I had full ferning about half of the time, actually. I was also temping and tracking CM, so I knew when I O'd. Anyway, I got too frustrated and threw it away...LOL!!! I found that temping is much more clear and easy to interpret so that's the route I've decided to take. All that said, when I was using the Saliva Scope I had recently come off BCP, so that may or may not have played a role in my funky readings! Are you temping? If you are, then I think the saliva method is just one more unnecessary hassle :-) If you're not temping, you might want to think about it. I have found that it helps me tremendously.

Hope this helps?!

Cheers!

Leanne,

I agree alot with the last poster. I have been using it for the last two cycles. i've never been on BCP and find that I often have at least partial ferning most of the month. I got mine at Target for $22. I'm going to continue charting, using the saliva scope (at least one more month) and start using OPK's this month.

Some people love the saliva scope. Me. I'm just not sure it's very reliable.

Thanks for reminding me Chrissy...I was also using OPKs, so with that, CM, and temping, I definitely knew when I was Oing and that the saliva tester was unreliable for me. I'm a big proponent of the OPKs...they have also really helped me a lot.

GL Leanne!

Cheers!

Hi Leanne,

I have to agree with the other two posters. I used the Donna for about half a cycle back in early May and got so annoyed by it that I ended up throwing it away. The thing was incredibly hard to read and as far as I could tell, the pattern never changed. And it definitely wasn't a BCP issue for me. I just think the thing was a piece of crap! Just my two cents.

Anyway, I got a BFP a week ago, no thanks to any saliva tester!

Good luck to you!

Leslie
