Hi ladies,

MD wants to me to have a serum progesterone test. It's supposed to tell when I Oed. Has anyone ever had one of these and do you remember what CD you were on and why/the circumstances behind having one done?

TIA

Progesterone testing is a common fertility test- usually one of the first things a Dr checks. Pre"o" prog. level is about 1-2 and post "o"- suppose to test at 7DPO is 10-15. He can see if you "O"d by what count you are. If you did "o" and are testing at 7DPO and your levels are below 10 they usually want you to go on some kind of suppliment because with low prog. you can't effectively hold a pg. Signs of low prog. are spotting through your cycle- like if you spot 5 days before af shows this may be the reason.

GL to you and let us know what he says!

I have this test done every month that I'm on Clomid. I have it done on CD 21.. at least that's when I'm supposed to have it done. Once I messed up my count and didn't get it done until CD 24. And depending on work sometimes I have to wait until CD 22. The dr's in the office I go to have differing opinions on what progesterone levels mean you O'd. One doc says it needs to be above 10 and another says above 15. For a long time I was getting levels of 12 or so. One doc said I o'd and the other said I didn't. After a lap they realized my ovaries weren't working so I couldn't have o'd. Now that they are fixed I'm getting levels of 18-24 or so. I'm taking this test again on Saturday (CD 22). Oh and you should get it done in the morning and don't eat anything beforehand... they don't always mention that.

I hope your results turn out high!!
