Should I be worried?

I'm new here and don't know the short terms but I have a question. I recently was sick and unable to take my BCP. I have been off it for a week and got my period, as I should have anyway (it was the scheduled time) but I just started the new pill yesterday. My live- in boyfriend of many years and I knew I was off the pill and had unprotected sex last night and today. I've also been on antibiotics for the past week+. I'm just wondering if I should even be worried about potentially getting pregnant or not give it a thought? I'm back on my BCP now and only missed that one week that I had my period anyway. I should be ovulating until late next week. Any thoughts? Oh I take Ortho-tri cyclen lo.

I'm a little confused. Did you take all three weeks of your "active" pills and then just have unprotected sex during the week of placebo pills? If that's the case don't worry about anything you should be fine. However, if you missed some pills and then had your week of placebos and started the pack late then there could be cause for concern. Anytime you miss pills it's not good but if you miss more than one there is a chance of getting pregnant and since you are also on antibiotics you have an extra increased chance of spontanious ovulation.
I'd watch everything and if your next period doesn't show up or if it's unusual in anyway then I'd test. Hope this helps and doesn't freak you out too much. Good Luck!

the placebo pills have no effect on your period. There are more of just a reminder pill than anything. You don't have to take them. If you only missed the one pill I wouldn't worry too much but being on anitbiotics while on the pill can cause them to not work. If you are still on antibiotics and have started the new pack I would use an alternate method of birth control as well. Unless it doesn't really matter to you. Just know that you can get pregnant on the pill if you are taking antibiotics.
Good Luck!
Like the PP said, if you only missed one active pill at the very end of your cycle, then saw a period immediately after, you're fine.
You should know, however, that antibiotics *can* reverse the effects of the pill. It does not happen every time, of course, but many women have been known to get pregnant while on the pill and antibiotics simultaneously. If you are not wanting to get pregnant you should avoid intercourse until you finish your round of antibiotics.
