I 4dpo and was wondering if it is best to avoid alcohol. Is a couple of glasses of wine when I go out for dinner best avoided? Does it diminish chances of conception?
Alcohol in general is pretty much prohibited while pregnant so if you're 4dpo and potentially pregnant, you do have a chance of creating some damage, especially since the 1st Trimester is a critical developmental time. So in short, better safe than sorry :)
Cycle 1: Ovulated Feb 21st with Metformin (under treatment for 5 years), Fish Oil, Nature's Way Prenatal Vitamins and Clear Blue OPK's.
At 4 dpo, even assuming conception occurred, your baby is not getting any nourishment from you whatsoever. Therefore anything that you take in at that time is not reaching the baby. A fetus doesn't begin to gain nourishment from it's mother until 2-3 weeks after conception. While I certainly would never advise someone to drink alcohol if they weren't comfortable with it I myself follow the advice of my OB that a moderate amount of alcohol like a glass of wine with dinner etc. during the 2WW isn't going to hurt even if I were to be lucky enough to become pregnant. This is one of those decisions that each person has to make to their own personal comfort level. Just my $0.02
That was my thinking. I am not intending on getting drunk but I would hate to spend half of every month not enjoying the odd glass of wine to find out I am no preg. Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for the reply. I never drink when pregnant but if it does no harm I would like to enjoy the odd glass of wine during the 2ww. I find it hard to relax during the 2ww as it is, the odd glass of wine with my dinner in the evening helps me to chill out.

Hey there,
If you're 4 days past O, drinking now will not affect whether or not you conceived 4 days ago.

I think if a woman is TTC and is in the 2WW, there is the possibility of being pregnant until AF shows.
