Sleeping Aide Question
| Wed, 10-15-2003 - 1:29pm |
I know this is probably a dumb question, but is it bad to take a sleeping aide while trying to conceive. I have always through my life taken sleeping aides every great once in awhile if I'm having a lot of difficulty sleeping...well Sunday night I took one without thinking and now I'm wondering if that is bad for TTC and if PG..?? does anyone know?
TIA!!
Lynn

I'm not sure which one you've been using, but if it contains dephenhydramine (which is the active ingredient in Benadryl), or any other antihistamine, you might want to stay away from it, although taking it last weekend shouldn't have any effect as it will be out of your system before any significant development of the embryo has a chance to occur. I do know that Benadryl/diphenydramine is a definite no-no during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. I'm not sure what the general rule is during TTC, but I do try to be careful with meds, especially in the 2WW. Hope that helps!
