hi all, I am new to board and TTC (first time charting...) Can someone look at my chart and tell me what the dip in my temp means today? I took it as usual, same time. But I thought that my temp was supposed to stay high after I ovulated even if I didn't conceive. Does this mean my period is coming soon?

thanks!

Welcome to the group!

Well, if this is as long as your cycles normally are, AF could certainly be on her way. That isn't a given though. Typically, your temps do stay up even if you aren't pregnant, until you get AF. If you are pregnant, they just stay up. But there can always be an exception here or there. 8 days is a really short time after ovulating so if AF DOES come and this ends up being normal for you, you will want to talk to a doctor about lengthening the number of post O days you have before AF comes.

Just keep charting and see what happens.

Good luck,

Robyn

thanks for your help. Amazing that at 34 y/o this is all so new to me! I just went off the pill so my cycles have been 56 days, 36 & 34... so I should know soon I guess. Hard to just sit tight and wait! :)

Welcome! In addition to what Robyn has said regarding a short lp(luteal phase) being an issue to be looked into if that's what it is, there is typically an estrogen surge between4-8dpo which will cause your temp to dip. Some women also get an implantation dip in temps but this is controversial as to whether it happens or not, and since it's your first chart we don't know if this is a typical dip for you or not.

Time will tell! GL!
