spotting during ovulation?

I asked this qestion on a separate message board but didn't get much response:(! This looks like a better spot...I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts about this? I am on day 17/28 and ovulated 3 days ago. Well, all looked good with ovulation but Wed night I started spotting (sorry if TMI) brown discharge and some blood (about 2 days lite spotting)! I don't know why this happened! It's never happened before! I've tried looking it up everywhere and am getting no results!! I'm just wondering because my husband and I tried getting preg this month, if we did fertilize an egg, will it be shed with the spotting or is there still a chance I could have gotten preggo and stayed that way after bleeding? 2WW is bad enough w/o wondering on top of it if it's even possible now!! PLEASE HELP!! Any input???

Okay, I'm just going to tell you right now that I really have no idea, but I went out on the internet and did a search. All I could find is two thing that could cause bleeding during and after ovulation. One, the egg being released could cause some bleeding when it's pushed out of the ovary. (I would say once that blood reaches the outside it would be pretty old and brown looking.) And two, a drop in hormone levels could cause bleeding. This would make sense considering your estrogen levels drop right before ovulation. I hope this helps. That's all I could really find, but I really didn't look that hard. I wouldn't be too concerned, but if it continues I would call the doctor to get and exam just to be safe. I also don't think it will interfer with conception. I wouldn't worry about it.

Good luck to you.

This happens to me periodically. Exactly the same thing. I have been told by a doctor that it is normal in some women. But, for me it seems to be getting worse. I have a dr appt on Tues. and will share any info that I get. I have also researched on the internet, and you are right, there is very little info on this matter. It's frustrating because right when you hope the sperm meeting the egg, you see blood, and you feel like this just can't be right. I guess I'll see what this doctor says.

A lot of women get spotting at the time of ovulation. Sometimes it can take the blood a few days to be excreted, so you won't see it until a few days after O, and by that time it will be more brownish. It sounds like that's what you're experiencing; relax - it sounds perfectly normal.

A recommendation - a great resource for these types of questions is the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. This book has been a lifesaver for me!

Good luck to you!
