Ok, I have to just say something to all you ladies who have been trying ttc and who spend all this time charting, bbt, etc., etc. If you can afford this monitor, I highly, highly recommend it, this is the BEST thing I have ever bought and worth every red cent. I would go CRAZY inputting info. for charting and taking bbt every single day then remembering to input it into FF, how do you ladies do it???? Just take read about what this amazing machine does and tell me if this sounds a lot easier than charting/temping.

I just feel sorry for all you ladies that have been ttc for years and wondering if FF is giving you accurate O days etc. Those of you who already have one, I'm sure can tell everyone how great this is and how easily you conceived with it, I know b/c I traded posts with most of you who have one and asked you q's before I went out and bought one...

I bought the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor off ebay $125.00), much cheaper than buying it directly off the Clearblue Easy website www.clearblueeasy.com ($200.00) it is quite expensive as you can see but it is AMAZING, it is a little monitor that has you pee on a testing stick like the OPK's but a lot more accurate.

You start the monitor at cd 1 of your af (your "real" first day of red blood) and then around cd 6 the monitor assumes your af is done so it asks you to start peeing on the test sticks (sold seperately for a box of 30 $50.00 from drug stores--also quite expensive) and you'll turn the monitor on each morning within you testing window (booklet explains all that, you have 6 hr. testing window each day to test your urine) then you test everyday it tells you to, you want your monitor reads "high fertility" it won't say the words it will display the fert. status by the amount of bars on the left side of it then when it detects your "peak fert." you know within 24-36 hrs. you will be Oing, it's amazing, this is only my first cycle using it and so far at cd 20 it has finally detected "peak fert." So I know I'll be Oing on Sept. 11th (great day) and have all the normal symptoms of Oing. I LOVE it, it's 99% accurate and I NEVER take temp or chart anything, I don't need to, I just pee on this stick, insert the test into the monitor and wait 5 min. while it reads my urine then take the testing stick out and wait for my fertility status to be displayed onto the screen.

You can go to the website I have listed to read up the monitor, but if you decide to buy one, go to ebay and bid for one, it will be much cheaper, trust me. This monitor will take all the guessing out of when you might O and almost every woman on this board plus my doc recommended it to me, it's so worth the money and so easy to use.

I would love everyone to see how wonderful this monitor is and for those who have irregular af's it can be used for anyone that has af from 21-42 days so unless you're really irregular (which a doc should see if your af is over 45 days) you can use this each month.

Give me your comments and feedback and if you have one, please post here to let the girls know how you like it! This post is NOT to offend anyone at all and if you enjoy charting and temping, etc. please continue, I just wanted to share how excited I was to get a high fert. symbol with and eggie indicating it's time to BD like crazy tonight and tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice, but I still don't plan on running out to buy a monitor - my DH will blow a gasket if I spend $100+ on something like that. =)

But back to worthwhile items to purchase while TTC... personally, I'd recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. For just $30 you get a HUGE understanding of your own body and the TTC process - even a fertility monitor won't give you that. As for temp charting... it's really not that bad once it gets into your routine. (I think of it as akin to taking BCP at the same time every day.)

It seems like a lot of charting women trust it all to Fertility Friend and agonize over its calculations... but Fertility Friend does NOT tell you how they arrived at their O date and coverline, only that "it was originally based on FAM but has been refined since." What the &%#$? By reading TCOYF and charting, you will gain the power of interpreting your own charts and putting things back in your hands.

Good luck to everyone!

Temping is pretty important to me. I use OPKs...but the problem with monitors and OPKs is that while they will show an LH surge...that does not necessarily mean you will ovulate. It is possible to have a surge as your body tries to ovulate, but then for whatever reason, an egg is not released. So you can have a surge, but not ovulate. The best way to confirm that you have actually O'd is by temping and seeing that you have a thermal shift in your temps.

I'm all for using as many sources of info as possible...whether that is a monitor or OPK, temping, CM, and CP...it all adds together to give you a clear picture of what is going on. And like Tami says...temping is not all that hard. It is second nature for me to do it in the mornings...and takes less than a minute to put the info into my chart.

I wish everyone luck and BFPs!!!

Well I agree with all you ladies. Anything that has any help to offer whether it be fertility monitors or fertility charts is all ok in my book. I have to admit though that it would be very convincing if the monitor did work soon for you especially since this is your first cycle using it so try and let us know if it worked.

We'll keep a lookout for you and God Bless

Thanks Julie,

If I don't conceive this month then next month I've vowed to purchase on of those monitors. I'm so happy that it is so accurate.

The monitor has worked my first cycle using it, it is intended to. I had "high fert." day for 4 days then on my cd 20 it went straight to "peak fert." to let me know I'd be o'ing within 24-36 hrs. (more than likely) I think I O'ed this morning, I could feel it and my nipples were very sore today with some abdominal pain and nausea. If you cycle is really long or really short on your first cycle using it, I think it could not give you some high peak days but when it detects your LH surge, it's almost 99% accurate.

Hope you try it, you won't be sorry.

Claire,

You'll love it, I promise you. I have had "peak fert." now for 2 days and I think I O'ed today (I felt it, cramps and sore nipples--sorry tmi) so hopefully I will have beginners luck with it being our first month ttc and using the monitor.

Please let me know when and if you get it and how you like it!
