Hi. I have posted once before and read many posts here. I had a question about tanning salons. I BD'd last weekend and will know if we were successful on Sept 1. My question is, can I tan during the 2 week wait or is it a bad idea? Any input would be greatly appreciated and good luck to all. Thanks.

Well... I know during pg... its not recommended. Something about bringing the body temp up too high.

So.. I would think not.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Guess I was looking for someone to tell me that I was wrong. Oh well. Rather be PG than tan!

I agree with Nanci, if you even think there may be a chance that you are pg, I probably wouldn't. She's exactly right, activities that raise the body temp , I think it's over 100 or maybe 102, ( not sure about the exact temp) are not recommended----- tanning beds, hot tubs, saunas, etc. , but like you said, a BFP++++ would be so much better than a tan any day. GL to you!!!!

I thank you. I actually have a spa day planned for next week. You just reminded me NOT to go into the sauna. I am a teacher and my friend and I always go to the spa the week before school starts. Hopefully this tradition needs to be tweeked a bit. Good luck to you.

Hello, my name is Bekah, and I work at a Tanning Salon. We STRONGLY recommend that you do not tan at ALL when it's possible you are pregnant. Yes, many doctors say you can as long as the room temperature is controlled. Let me tell you that is highly unlikely. A room can be 70 degrees before a client tans, and by the end of the session it can be close to 100. Also, miscarriages are more apt to occur in the early stages of pregnancy. Plus, research is always changing. Doctors may tell you now that it's okay to tan....and then 15 years down the road they find out your child has a defect due to tanning. So I'd say don't take the risk!! Your child is way more important than tan lines anyway.

Good luck!

Bekah,

Thank you very much for your information. I definitekly WILL not go tanning now! I actually haven't gone since before we tried last weekend. I do agree with you regarding what doctors say vs. common sense. They seem to say that anything in moderation is ok which I disagree with. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and we all must do what is right for us. Therefore, NO TANNING for me! Thanks again!
