Tater Tot w/ late BFP????

I am not sure where to post and this is my first posting on the new board. I have been only lurking since they changed the format and trying to get a hang of it all, but I still didn't know where to post.

I am so confused. I was a Tater Tot or am a Tater Tot. So some of those ladies should remember me. I had a B/T done 7dpo (but admitted to my doc that I wasn't 100% sure the OPK test was accurate) The B/T revealed that I have close to no progesterone. And I was told I don't ovulate - even though I am extremely regular. So my doc wanted to do an HSG for the next cycle and start me on Clomid. After much confusion I agreed to do those tests but we needed to wait until my period came. So I have been waiting!!! Well today is CD 38 and still no AF. I have no symptoms at all - other than my BB's being a little fuller than normal. But this is normal if I were going to get AF soon.

HERE IS WHERE THE STORY GETS GOOD!!!!

I did a HPT the past three days and each day got a very faint +. Am I pregnant? The onyl reason I did the tests is b/c I starting thinking why would I have such low progesterone levels and not be ovulating but still be a regular cycle person? So then I thought maybe I o'd late this month and could be PG. And if AF didn't show by CD 40, I am supposed to start taking hormones to start AF....so I thought why not take a test for fun. Then I took a test everyday for three days thinking one would have no line but they all had a faint line.

I don't know what to think. I have a call into my doc's office to see if I can get a B/T but I also don't want to get my hopes up yet. And if I am PG but still have low progesterone should I be concerned?

Debra, I wish I could help you out. Not sure about the progesterone stuff but I am thinking you are PG. I never had any symptoms with my DS. Go for the Blood test to make sure. I know it is hard not to get your hopes up. Hang in there,

Debra! You definitely need a B/T right away! Progesterone is the hormone responsible for keeping the uterine lining thick enough to sustain a pregnancy. If you are PG and have low progesterone, you will want to be put on supplements IMMEDIATELY. There are several women on this board who have had experience with this, including Sara (goldneys72) and Eone (imsluggosmama). Actually, I am currently on progesterone supplements because my temps dropped a couple of days after my BFP. (Progesterone is also responsible for the rise in BBT after O) Once you start the supplements, you should stay on them until 12 weeks from your LMP to ensure that the placenta has taken over the production from the corpus luteum.

It sounds to me as though perhaps your O date was off, and you actually were not 7dpo for the first B/T. It is not produced until you O. This would also account for your faint BFPs at cd38. As you are suggesting, I think your regular cycles are a good sign that you probably do ovulate.

HTH ... good luck and keep us informed!

Ditto what Mary Beth said! You need progesterone right away. Please call tomorrow a.m. (better yet, just go in) and ask/demand a progesterone draw, an hCG quant analysis and progesterone suppositories in the mean time and start them immediately. I'm so happy for you, Debra, and want you to hang onto this pregnancy. So many people have to lose a pregnancy (myself included) before they get put on progesterone post-O. Good luck and congratulations!

Thank you to everyone who wrote with their opinion. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Quick update.

First of all I did another HPT this morning and it was a darker positive than the three previous ones I had done.

Then I went for a B/T this morning and was lucky enough to also get to talk to the doctor. She was pretty darn positive that I am PG and that I have nothing to worry about. Given the history of my cycles she is pretty sure that I just O'd late and am PG. I just can't believe it!!!!! Especially since after this cycle I was going to start taking other measures. (HSG + Clomid.)

But the B/T will confirm 100% if I am PG. I won't hear until tomorrow. They also are checking my progesterone levels in case I may need supplements. And she said I probably will have to come back in a few days to make sure my HCG level is rising.

I think I am still in shock! I haven't even told DH since he is out of town for a BIG job interview!!!

DH's SA results also came in and ironically enough all results were good except for shape of sperm. He was just below where they wanted him to be. But they weren't too concerned and said it was probably close enough that another sample should be evaluated in case this one wasn't accurate. But lucky for him if I am PG he won't have to do that again!!

Hello Tater Tot Debra!!! I'm glad to see you posting here. I know the board is rather confusing. I am just learning how to use it today too.

I don't know, BFP 3 days in a row? I would say that you are PG ! Congratulations are inorder, right?

The tests do look for HCG in your system and you can only have that if you are infact PG. I think you should contact your doctor and atleast let them know about the 3 positive tests. Have you used the same exact brand for each test? Perhaps your doctor can give you a BT that is more sensative than the HPT.

Good luck and I hope you will be posting a more definite BFP really really soon!!

Rita,Thanks for writing. I updated my story and I think it is within this message thread but if you can't find it, let me know. Based on what the doc said and after my test results come back tomorrow I hope I will be posting a BFP.
