Is it that big of a deal if you get up, shut your alarm off, walk downstairs and then take your temp?

from what i understand, even sitting up in bed can raise your temp. that's why most bbt instructions say the best way to temp is to take it when you're still half-asleep.
it's the best way to get the *most accurate* temp

yeah, i keep my bbt right next to my alarm clock & my bb (blackberry) next to my bbt.. that way i can log it into my bb's calendar so i won't forget by the time i get to the FF site...

Same here... I keep the keychain flashlight, pen, thermometer, and notepad on the nightstand. I wake up by alarm, though, so my heart's usually pounding away when I take my temp! I'm wondering how much that affects it? I can't wake up naturally without being late for work, though. But I don't think the temps are accurate if you actually get out of bed.

Like PP said, you should not move at all, not speak, etc, just temp right away. THAT, my friend, is why i never temped when TTC #1. NBD, i just monitored CM and got PG right away. then, for #2, something was wrong with my cycles, and i temped to figure it out, and i finally got into a routine of temping and have been temping ever since.

i get up, move around, go bathroom, strip the pee-pee sheets off my DD's bed, and temp, LOL makes no difference for me, my temps are not THAT varied. Maybe they should be even closer than they are, and maybe since i have been temping and charting for a while, i can just see my pattern even with my weird temps, but that means that anyone else could do the same, unless they are the unfortunate sort whose temp goes up 2 degrees when they sit up in bed. Mine does not.

so stick with temping FIRsT thing. then get up and pee (or whatever teehee) and temp again, see how it goes, if it is very different. Just dont drink or talk too much, that will make a difference. but movement might not - test it and see!!!
