I had an HSG this past Wednesday. The doctor said I was very relaxed and that it goes well when patients are relaxed so try and relaxed. MY RE told me to take 800mg ibuprofin 2 hours before and it helped. It was quick, almost no pain and I got good results. Hope the same goes for you! Best to you! I've heard scary stories too but many women say it's not bad at all.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. It does put my nerves at ease some to hear of other women's positive experiences with this procedue. I'm just so ready to be ttc again with a game plan to help me. Oh
I'll be honest- my hsg was pretty painful, but it was fairly brief, & I just felt crampy after. I did have a lot more blood than I had expected, so you might want to take a pad with you for that. You can start trying the same month usually, although for some it seems to cause a delayed O. Hope you get good news & a pain free procedure!

I sincerely hope that you are like most and that yours goes well.
Mine, unfortunately did not. I am pretty good with pain (long term back injury, migraines, etc) but was totally shocked by the pain of my hsg. I took some tylenol first (I didn't have any motrin on me, and my hsg was scheduled last minute), but it didn't help. I had some scar tissue around one of my tubes which may have led to my increased pain, or perhaps the sadistic doctor who did mine used too much pressure (my doc noted this later), but it caused so much pain I began to black out, almost threw up, my blood pressure dropped to below 80/50
Hello Moonlitlove! Good luck with your upcoming HSG test. I had my HSG test in July...and just like you I did research online and totally freaked myself out. I wish I would have been more relaxed and unknowing going into the appointment. I did take ibuprofin before the appointment, however I did experience quite a bit of pain...although the test did not take long. After the test, I had minor cramping which just lasted through that afternoon. But please understand that this test affects everyone differently...so you could be a lucky one with minor pain. But on a very positive note...many professionals say that you have a higher chance of pregnancy for up to 3 months after the test...and I did get my BFP 3 months after my test.
Thanks Laura. I am kinda hoping this will be the last for me and we can get back to trying and hopefully have a way of helping me carry. We're hoping that we can try this cycle after the hsg. If the hsg confirms the MRI result than we should be able to since there really isn't anything they can do. So here's hoping. I hope you are continuing to do well.
