Did you notice anything different with AF the cycle you had hsg done? This is TMI, sorry, but I've hardly had any red blood flow- mostly it's brown. I'm normally light, but this is ridiculous! Anyone else experience the same thing? I KNOW I'm not pg- so don't even go there ;o)

TIA!

Tara

Hi Tara,

I haven't gotten AF yet, but I thought I'd chime in so you didn't feel ignored!

I had my HSG on 9/2/03 and AF is due 9/22/03, so I'll let you know next week. Does the brown look like blood or dye? I wonder if it's possible that the dye stays in there until AF flushes it all out. You'd still have red flow though. Hmmmm.... that's a tough one. I'll get back to you after the 22nd.

Take care.

Katie

p.s. My new RE wants to do the HSG again, so I'll be going back in in October for another! Yikes! She said that she uses a little local anesthetic just on the cervix to make it more comfortable. She also suggested 4 advil (the last Dr said 1!) I'm hoping it won't be as bad as the last one!

OK call me stupid because I am not sure what the HSG is -but i think it is the test where they put the dye in you to make sure tubes, etc arent blocked? I am in the process of all kinds of testing, and would definitely like to have this done! Another thing, is it usually *not* covered by insurance, or is it? IF not, then any input on costs? I am super aware of costs these days because of the $5000 worth of blood tests that my old dr ordered without telling me they werent covered by my insurance! ;-)

Thanks guys!

I don't know about all insurance but it is covered by mine. 100%. my insurance only covers diagnosis and testing. No treatment except for one round of clomid.

Tara,

After my hsg I too had brownish AF, but it was not light, I had "clots" and more "ick" come out the AF right after teh test. Sorry I can't help you more, but I think it kinda cleans out your tubes and uterus and maybe breaks up some old blood in there. Hope this helps.

Yep, I had that after my hsg, I think it's just the "cobwebs" I was told it was prefectly normal.
