for those who've had scheduled c-section

I've been informed by my doc that once pregnant I'd be scheduled for a planned c-section. This is due to my pelvic bone being too narrow to ever conceive naturally. I'm fine with this. I was curious though - how does this work? Once your due date is determined, do they allow you to then pick a date before it? I think someone told me that you are asked to pick a day the week before. What has anyone's experience with this been?

Unless you have previously had a broken pelvis, or had rickets as a child, the chances of you not being able to deliver vaginally are very small. I would get a second opinion. Major surgery is not something to do unless you have to, and there are MUCH higher risks to you and the baby if you have a c-section. If one becomes unavoidable, than it's best to wait till you go into labor, as that way you KNOW the baby is ready to be born. There are a lot of babies being born a little preterm because of c-sections. Do some research before you agree to a c-section.

Oh, I've had a second opinion. Its not something I've taken lightly, but my Mom also had to have c-sections for the very same reason and I've been told it tends to run from mother to daughter like that. They have a hard time just giving me a pelvic exam.

I am curious about the same thing. I have a bicornuate uterus and have been told that I have a 90+% chance of having a planned c-section because of this condition. My mother had 3 c-sections because after the first one they said she had to have c-sections and since every baby ended up breech or transverse there were no other options. So for the second 2 which were not emergency procedures, one was 5 days before the EDD and the second was the week before the EDD. That was over 20 years ago so I am curious if anything in that procedure has changed.

I have had 4 scheduled c-sections and we are TTC a 5th. With my first it was a surprise (toxemia) and it was actually on the due date. My next one was my choice, but I opted for another c/s because it was so easy. After 2 c/s you have to have c/s, which is fine for us.

Anyways, you are right, we generally picked a day a week before my EDD... The date wasn't scheduled until late in the 2nd trimester and it depended a lot on doctors schedule, days of the week, ect. With my 4th, it was only 1 day before her EDD and with

before I was told I could choose a date with my second daughter...but I ended up having to go in a 2 weeks early for a c-section...but I still chose the date.

Tiffany when you chose the date, did they give you a range? Was it the week before EDD?

Your chart still looks amazing. Do you feel anything?
Did you decide whether you are going to POAS or no?
