I've been informed by my doc that once pregnant I'd be scheduled for a planned c-section. This is due to my pelvic bone being too narrow to ever conceive naturally. I'm fine with this. I was curious though - how does this work? Once your due date is determined, do they allow you to then pick a date before it? I think someone told me that you are asked to pick a day the week before. What has anyone's experience with this been?

Not sure about planned c-section in your condition, but both mine were due to breach babies.

This link is to a new study showing a c-section before 39 weeks risks complications. http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/01/07/c.section/index.html

As stated, I do not have a choice (other than not to have a child). It isn't "elective surgery," not that a c-section ever is. I appreciate the advice, but when someone doesn't have another option ... to remind them of risks involved isn't really helpful.
