I was told during an ultrasound that I have a tipped uterus. I looked it up on the infertility page for Parents.com and they said that it shouldn't interfere with conception. Have any of you had any experience with this or have doctors told you that it could play a role?

I learned from my chiropractor that some back problems and tilting of my pelvis that we're trying to correct may have caused my tipped uterus (after years of my body holding an incorrect position, it probably squished any number of my organs in the wrong way). So on top of the back pain that I've had all these years, I'd hate to learn that it's the source of my infertility as well!

I'm going to see my OBGYN this week so I'll let you know what she has to say about it.

Hi Beth,

I have a tipped uterus and wasn't even aware of it until I switched doctors. I have 2 DDs and my previous OB never said anything about it for the 7 years I saw her. I had normal deliveries and pregnancies, and I didn't have any trouble conceiving so I don't think it has any negative consequences for me. HTH and GL to you!

Hi, Beth! I have heard that there are certain bding positions that work better for conception with a tipped uterus. Rear-entry(doggie style) and woman on top are better for penetration and getting the sperm closer to the cervix when pelvis is tipped. Also, instead of laying afterwards on your back with a pillow under your butt, lay on your stomache with a pillow under your hips(butt elevated). These are the only factors that I have heard of with a tipped uterus.

GL to you and yes- let us know what the Dr has to say about it!

It's really very common-something like 35-40% of women have a tipped uterus. I have one and got pg very easily the first time-it doesn't really affect much at all.
