Triphasic chart?

Does my chart look triphasic? As you can see I have no self control and tested (BFN) on 12DPO. I should be getting AF today or tomorrow (I have 29 day cycles). I have sore tender BB, but that is normal for me before AF. I am having some very mild cramping which seems to feel more like O pain. Only on one side and more of a sharp pain (very slight) then a crampy feeling. I am assuming that I am out this cycle, but the pattern on my chart made me wonder.

I think your chart looks triphasic b/c up until dpo8 you are averaging around 98.0 but then after dpo8 you are up around 98.3. Of course not all women have the triphasic pattern but I think it certainly is possible for you. I wish you the best and sending lots of baby dust your way!!

um... what is triphasic or biphasic? what does it mean and what does it look like?

thanks! I am on my 2nd month charting but last month I had a cold/fever for 5 days around O so it means nothing to me. Trying to understand as much as I can this time...

Hi Laura,

You'd want to read TCOYF for the best explanation, but basically it means that there are 3 levels to a woman's temperatures when she charts if there is a pregnancy. For example, before O my temps might hover around 97.2 then after O they will jump up to 97.8 and after implanation there is commonly a third range of temps which in my case is around 98.3. But not all women have a triphasic pattern and many pregnant women can even have annovulatory patterns when they chart. I think fertilityfriend.com may also have more info on this. HTH!

All ovulatory charts should be biphasic, meaning lower temperatures before O and higher after o until the next AF. Some pregnancy charts are triphasic, where the temperatures go up after O and then go up again a week or so after o (when the egg implants). Unfortunately, not all pregnancy charts are triphasic, and not all triphasic charts turn out to be pregnant. So its a useful indicator, but not foolproof.

I do think this chart appears to be triphasic, so I would test again with FMU every other day. Hopefully AF will stay away!

Good Luck!

It is a nice sign, but definitely don't pin your hopes all on that. As Vicki mentioned, not all pregnancy charts are triphasic. Mine is looking triphasic right now too, but I have been burned before on that!
