I am 30 years old and trying to conceive my 3rd child. My husband is 33. We have two children together 10 and 8. We have been trying for 2 months. I know that doesn't sound very long but my 1st child was conceived on accident and so was our second child. We didn't use birth control once with each of our children and conceived. My question is has our age affected our fertility or is it the fact that we are trying? I have not used any birth control pills we have been using condoms for 8 years. Any input?

you are barely started... It's VERY premature to say there's a problem. In 6 more months I would say it's time to consult a doctor but the average time is that no matter what your age when you are actually trying it takes approx 6 months. You still have a ways to go. Relax. It's to be expected that when you try it takes time. Just because you had accidents in the past doesn't mean anything.

I'm going to say this is just coincidence. When you are trying to concieve, you notice when it didn't work more than when you are not. (In which case "not working" would be normal.)

You are not really that old for TTC. I mean, it could be possible that your ovulation and or cervical fluid quality has changed over the years... but 33 should still be a pretty fertile age.

Good luck on #3!

Thanks for your input. I was hoping my age didn't have an effect on my fertility. Thanks again.

Thanks for your input. This has been the longest two months. I am going to try and relax and just go with it. Again thank you for your input. Have a great day!

The only thing I can think of that would have changed is your dh's sperm motility. That goes from 90% or so to 50% after age 30. You still have great chances to conceive, so relax and have fun!

I'm 34 and just had a baby 8 months ago. I did take me longer this time around, being that it was 10 years since my last pg. I got pg. the 5th month, had a mc and then got pg 2 months later! Don't give up hope, but it does see that when you are "trying" it takes longer. I had finally given up and that is when I got pg both times. GL!
