TTC After Mirena Removal

Hello everyone!
Really I'm more of a lurker. I think I introduced myself a while ago. But here I am on cycle # 1 - my first try - after Mirena IUD removal. This board has helped me tremendously!! Thanks in advance ladies!
Anyways, I have a question. My IUD was removed October 23rd so I made that cycle day # 1. I started a period a couple of days later and it lasted a normal 5 or 6 days. I had a regular period on Mirena and this was nothing different. Anyways, I didn't really temp because I didn't know how to so I really just used my CM and ovulation pain as a guide (I get that every month). When I use the generic ovulation calculators online and I enter in the day of my removal as the first day of my last period, it gave me an ovulation date of around 11/6. And that seemed pretty accurate because I had some ovulation pain sometime around there. Also, I have been pregnant before and my cycles are pretty textbook 28 days - before Mirena and after Mirena. We DTD all that week so now I'm in my 1WW. However, the last few days starting last week I have had HORRIBLE cramping. I tell you, I never had period cramps like this. I'm even tender to the touch in my lower abdomen. No spotting, but lots of clear discharge. I never had cramps with my periods. I did a HPT on Sunday - if I ovulated on 11/6 then I would have been 10 DPO but it was a BFN. But who knows when I ovulated because I got my IUD out and I wasn't temping. So it could have just been too early.
My question is - anyone else have really noticeable cramping?? I mean really, really noticeable cramping. I mean it comes and goes but it's almost always there. Also, when should I expect my period? The generic ovulation calculators say on the 20th - I'm afraid to test again. I really don't want to see another BFN! On the other hand, if AF does come, at least I will be able to start temping and have some real numbers to go off of.
So what do you think? If I test this weekend can I be fairly sure it's accurate? You ladies are a great help. Thanks for your opinions!
Elisha

Hi Elisha,
Sorry to confuse you (because I was probably one of the ones who told you to count the removal as CD1), but if you got your period a few days after your Mirena removal, you started a new cycle at that time.
To confuse matters even more, lots of clear discharge sounds like ovulation to me. Is the discharge thick and stretchy, like egg whites? I wonder if the cramps are from ovulation? But if they are really bad, maybe you should talk to a doctor to make sure you don't have a cyst or something.
But I agree with the previous poster that your cycle is more likely to be irregular this month because of your recent Mirena removal. At this point, it sounds to me like you are ovulating now, 10+ days late.
Okay this is so confusing! I know your cycle can be really messed up after IUD removal, but my first cycle was really normal. A bit heavier but not longer. Well, thanks for your help! I guess all I can do is wait. I swear this has been the LONGEST month EVER!
So if my cycle really didn't officially start until the 26th of October, then it would have been way too early to test last Saturday. But all these different things I'm feeling, I hope they mean something! The cramps went away today - been replaced with sore bbs & headaches. Ah well, hopefully it's not all in my head. Thanks for giving me your input ladies!
HI!
Corinne,
Wow that is so funny that we are going through what seems to be the same thing! I just thought I knew my body so well and I just knew all these weird things meant a BFP! Now it's probably just me coming off the darn IUD hormone! I have heard of women getting pg right away after removal so I suppose it's not impossible but now I just wish AF would show already! If we didn't conceive this time around my DF wants to wait until May next year (after we're married). It was a tough sell to get him to try this soon but now after this he'll definitely tell me we're waiting. :( So I was really holding out hope for this! But I guess maybe it wasn't in the cards.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and I'll let you know what happens with me!
I'm right there with you too on my first month after getting Mirena out. I got mine out on Nov 3rd so it has been 2 weeks now. I haven't had any AF so I haven't had any idea where I am in my cycle. Just to cover all bases we've a lot! We haven't gone more than 48 hours apart LOL. Well, last Tuesday I had some cramping like I always used to do at ovulation and the next day I started getting a lot of ewcf. The EWCF continued until yesterday and it seemed to still be there just not as much. Today I'm pretty dry. I am thinking that perhaps I ovulated Sunday?? Anyway, we had sex Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday. Don't you just love all of the information we share with each other when TTC LOL!! I'm wondering if it's safe to slow down our efforts now? And when to test? I'd obviously really love to be one of those people who gets BFP their first month! I look forward to getting to know you all on this journey we are all on!
Tara (btw, the is #2 we are TTC, we have 6 1/2 year old daughter already)
I'm interested to know if your Af does show and if she comes with a vengence like mine.
I'm crossing my fingers for you though that she doesn't come.
I posted about this too and then found this thread.
I Got my IUD out on Nov. 3rd as well. Then on Mon (17th) I had my "AF". But AF always looked so weird with the mirena. It was always EWCF mixed with blood. Then the blood would go away but the EWCF would stay, perfectly clear. As though I Ovulated during AF. My cycle did the same thing off the mirena as it did on it this time around. No real bleeding, just the EWCF mix. That only lasted 2 days, and it's been clear since. DH and I DTD last night with the O cramps. I'm wondering how it works though with the mirena messing up the cycle. Guess it's just hurry up and wait.
Thank you mommy-medic for my beautiful siggy!
