Hi Ladies,

I'm relatively new here although I've been lurking for a few months! I was wondering if anyone else out there is ttc with hypothyroidism. I was dx back in July after having blood work done bc of long AF (5-7 days of spotting followed by 5-6 "real" AF...not fun, let me tell you!). I've been on meds now for 2 months, last cycle no change in AF, but still on a low dose of meds. Just curious if anyone else has any experience with this issue.

Thanks,

D

Me (36), DH (41) - ttc#1 since 02/08

Seeing RE since 11/08, dx with "unexplained infertility."

2 failed cycles of clomid (12/08, 1/09)

Hello! Girl do I know! The first time I was TTC in 2005 I had hypothyroid. Long story short they did a radio active iodine treatment on me to kill my thyroid. Of corse they told me not to get preg for 6mths because of the radioactive stuff in my system and I just laughed--we had been trying for 2 years. Wouldn't you know exactly one week later I concieved! About 3 mths into my preg I became hypo and started taking Synthroid. They checked my levels once a month and were continuosly changing my dose. My daughter was born full term and totally healthy! :) I am TTC #2 now and am on 200mcg of Synthoid because of the hypo thyroid. that is alot but it is totally safe as far as I can tell for a baby. Just keep taking your meds because it is important that your body be healthy and strong to support your baby. Also having your thyroid under control will make a HUGE difference in getting preg! So work with your dr to find the right dose! I hope that helps! Heather :)
Had VR on OCt 3rd 2008 with Dr Roeder in New Braunfels TX. TTC as soon as DH is ready! :) Trying for #2!

Hello everyone...i havent posted any messages on here in quite awhile. To be honest ive completely lost hope on ever conceiving again, but i have to confess i still come and read everyone else's posts. I had to post on this one, since this stinking hypothyroid crap stays on my mind daily. I was diagnosed around april or so, and i absolutely hate it! Im on sythroid, but keep wondering if theres something i could possibly take to help with losing some of the weight i gained from this disorder and feel depressed about it pretty often. The med is totally messing up my cycle, though the doctors dont believe me. Since ive been on the medicine i have only started close to on time twice in all these months...I went from having 28 day cycles for years to now its moving closer to 40 days. The dr. even tried having me take synthroid every other day to see if maybe it would help, but it wasnt. Actually i started feeling like i was gaining weight again and feeling more sad and irritable, so i have put myself back on the medicine everyday to hopefully feel much more like myself. Does anyone else have any of these issues? As far as the conceiving with hypothyroidism ive totally just let myself quit believing it will ever happen. It was killing me to keep hoping as hard as i was, so now i dont bother to post anything or read all the posts every single day like i was. I hope you all have much better luck with it then i have!!

I was hyperthyroid and diagnosed with Graves Disease in 1999. I have a total thyroidectomy, so I have no thyroid at all, and now I take 200mcg of Levoxyl daily. It was a concern of mine, but I do get VERY regular periods, and according to my first month of temping last month I did ovulate, and I should be ovulating right around now as well, so I'll look to see what my temps do.

Good luck :)
