TTC and ovulation

My bf and I are ttc and I'm a bit confused about ovulation. The first day of my period was July 29 and it lasted 3 days, so my ovulation day should have been either the 11th of August or the 12th. We had sex on the 8th. I've heard that you can get pregnant the 6 days up to and including ovulation. Is this true? I noticed my cervix was low, but fairly mucusy. Pretty elasticy. Could I get pregnant? What are my odds? TIA.

Sperm can live up to just 5 days in extremely fertile CM, though up to 3 days would probably be more realistic. The cervical position is usually high at the time of ovulation as well. In your case... assuming that August 11/12 was your O date (did you confirm this through OPKs or charting?), it's certainly possible if you had extremely fertile CM, otherwise it's probably a bit of a stretch. You might be better off trying to get in a little more BD next time - if you bf's sperm count is normal, you can BD as often as every day during your fertile time to increase your chances.

Good luck to you!

I had charted it myself for the 11th, but I was counting the first day when I was just spotting. Had it charted again and was told the 12th. So, it's possible but not probable? Hey, would have been a miracle if I had actually conceived first try. Would have fainted. LOL. Thanks for the info.
