I have a 15 month old who has not nursed at night since September. She was weaned to nursing 1x day in Feb and completely weaned on March 10th. We are ready to get preg. Do I need to start my cycle and how long does it usually take? I am getting anxious

Kids MSC ment. It totally depends on your body. Everyone is different, as far as when they start their cycles again. Sometimes it can come back before weaning, right away after or within a couple months after weaning, but it should not take longer than that. From what I have read there is usually an anovolatory period before your fertility come back BUT not always! I would watch your cervical mucus closely, that would probably be your best indicator of returning fertility. If you see stretchy slippery fluid (like egg whites, clear or cloudy) then it would indicate probable fertility (ovulating then or soon) and I would go ahead and BD. Your period should show up within this month or the next (unless you happen to get prego first ;) If you have more questions about it you could ask on the Breastfeeding and TTC board, I am sure they would be very knowledgable about it!

BTW, I have had three breastfed babies, with my first my period started a week after weaning (but it was abrupt weaning, won't do that again!) The second I stated when he cut back some, but I had a couple early MC's, I felt it was because I was still nursing and my hormons weren't in the maintaining preg. mode. I got prego after one normal period after weaning. 3rd one I got my period about 1.5 months before weaning and am now on cycle 3 of TTC.

Thanks for your input. I guess I just need to be patient and watch my signs of O.
