Hi I'm new to TTC so forgive me if I get some of the terminology wrong.
Okay, my husband and started TTC last month. Which isn't so long ago that I have any reason to complain or worry but I've been having issues that I need some help on.
I had my first baby in 14 months ago. Ever since then my periods have been very erratic. Most of the time they have been extremely light and short. Which I thought was great when I didn't want to conceive. Cut to January 1st (last month) all of a sudden I started my period (when I had thought I had just finished) and it is extremely heavy. Now it's Feb. 9th and my period is still ongoing and heavy. I went to my gyno last week because I am 33 and concerned I might be starting menopause (both my mother and aunt went through menopause at 32). They tested my hormones and everything came back fine (relief!). My hormones are well within the normal range of an ovulating woman. Okay, great but I still have this crazy heavy period. My gyno gave me a graph to test my basal temp and I've been doing that but only for a few days now.
So, my questions are: If my hormones are normal does that mean I am ovulating even during this period? Should I still count my ovulation as if I am on a 28 day cycle? Has anyone else had similar problems? Thanks in advance!

I went through the same thing after I had my daughter. After I had Maeleigh, I bled for 11 weeks, instead of 2-4 like most people. Then when I really got my period, they were weeks long. My longest was 9 weeks I believe. I was really disappointed with my doctor. All she could offer me was, well, you had a baby and sometimes it takes time for your body adjust.
I can say that it did eventually work out, not that it helps you now. With early menopause running in your family though, I'd really push your doctor to look into it. And I would also be certain, are you sure you weren't pregnant and miscarried?
Sorry I can't offer much of a solution. But I'm sure with all the women on here, someone can help you more.
