The key is to learn to identify the different types of CM.
During your non-fertile period you will have very scant, sticky or creamy CM. When you are nearing your fertile period, you will begin to see increased amounts of what's considered "fertile CM." Fertile CM is egg-white or watery in consitency. It will be very stretchy; if you try to separate it between your thumb and index finger you'll find that it will stretch several inches before breaking.
