U/S lubrication ?

Okay...with this being my cycle monitering cycle, I'm having to go for blood test and internal ultrasound(u/s) every 2-3 days until I "O". When they do the internal, she squeezes a huge amount (not having ever used lub-I don't know what's normal ;o) ) of lubrication before insertion. So I know that lubrication is bad for sperm life when bding...my question is, do you think this will affect things for our bd-fest? How long do you think the lub stays up there? If I had u/s this morning and bd tonight is there any point? Will it just kill the sperm?

Any ideas for me?

Thanks!

Tara

Oh Tara! I'm so glad you asked that question. I've wondered the same thing. Some of the u/s techs I've had, used the lube and some didn't.

I would like to think that it didn't affect anything, since you know, they *should* know better.

Hopefully it doesn't, or I may be up the creek with you this cycle. I had an u/s on friday and then an HCG trigger shot and we've bd every night since.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that it won't affect us!!

Good Luck

Ladies,I am no expert on this but I would think that as long as the lubrication wasn't a spermicidal lub. then you should be ok if im wrong someone please let us know

Tara - do you know what kind they used? I know when I have a normal Pap they use KY, which is no good for sperm, but I really don't know how long it sticks around inside you...hmmmm. Good question. Maybe a call to the doctor is in order...this is a stumper!

My dr also uses K-Y for "the exam", but the lub they use (on me) for an u/s is in a round bottle. I was being nosey friday (my last u/s) and looked at it, but I can't remember what it said.

Surely they know you are ttc and would use something "sperm friendly". Don't you think?!?!

Tara, I am going to follow this post closely. I have U/S done for some cysts and endometriosis and that stuff always makes me nervous. But the U/S did show me that I

OV really early, so it was worth learning that month.

Thanks for bringing this up.

Sincerely, Stephanie TTC#1 CD 8

PS I sent you the email reg. BB and BFP Thanks for the answers.

I just called and spoke with the nurse at the clinic- how aweful trying to ask about sperm friendly lubrication on an internal ultrasound from a little cubical at work!LOL! I hope no one heard me-ROFL! Anyway, she said it is "friendly" and wouldn't be a problem. I didn't ask the name of it, I just wanted to get off the phone before someone heard me!

Okay, feeling better now. I'll find out more when I go back on Thursday for the next one.

Thanks, ladies!
