Vitamin D deficiency.

So in addition to my OB/GYN I also see another doc occasionally for back pain due to a rib sprain at my old job. Well since the pain wasn't getting any better she ran some bloodwork and found out I have a vitamin D deficiency. So naturally, the first place I go is google to see if there is a correlation between vitamin D deficiency and TTC. Well low and behold, vitamin D plays a huge role in the endocrine system which controls... hormones! I also read on some forums that vitamin D deficiency can be dangerous in early pregnancy and cause miscarriages. Then, further reading led me to see that vitamin D deficiencies can be linked to PCOS and Hashimotos. So I am *so* glad that I caught this now. I began taking my once a week supplement today. I'm wondering however if I can still take my prenatals with it? I totally forgot to ask the doc. Guess i will call on Monday. I just thought this was interesting, wanted to share, wondering if this could be the missing link in my TTC journey...

Oh, I hope this is the answer you're looking for! Once a week suplements would be such as easy fix, so much better than fertility drugs with side effects. I really hope this is it for you! Any idea how long it's supposed to take for the vitamin to build up in your system?

It is such great news that you discovered that! I hope this IS the missing link to your TTC journey. :) How great would that be?

I had my physical done before ttc and I had the same issue. The doctor told me to buy D3 1000 i.u. and take on pill daily. I tell you that I have not been faithful to taking the vitamin and yes she said to take it in addition to my prenatal vitamin. I did not think that TTC and lack of vitamin D would affect ttc. OMG! I ran to the kitchen and took the pill...thank you so much!

Yeah I've learned that vitamin D is for more than just the health of your bones! Crazy right? I need to do more reading on vitamins now.

Really interesting information Lex. I know I'm not deficient as I had a barrage of tests once I turned 30. I dont get the sun whatsoever so I must be doing ok with my diet, LOL. It's amazing how all these different factors can affect us.
