Hi-

I recently bought a Clearplan Fertility Monitor and am on cycle day 17. I am high fertility, but still have not hit "peak fertility". I have longer cycles (over 40 days long). Is it unusual that I would ovulate much later than cycle day 14?

Thanks for everyones help.

Hello

As I understand it, a luteal phase (time between O and AF) is rarely more than 15 days past ovulation. So if your cycles are 40 days, ovulations would be expected about day 25-28. If your luteal phasesa are longer than 18 days, it may indicate that you were pg at some point.

Hi! First of all, let me say that the only things I know are based on all the articles and books that I have read on these issues... If your cycle is consistantly and normally 40 days, then you still have a few days to go before you reach your mid-cycle point, when O would normally occur. A CD 14 O is based on the typical 28 day cycle. From what I have read, you may want to contact your doctor about your long cycles if you haven't done so already. In the meantime, keep testing - your peak fertility day is still to come!

Good Luck! Best Wishes!!

The luteal phase (after O until AF) is typically 12-16 days in most women. With a 40-day cycle, this would put your O at CD 24-28.

With 40-day cycles, I would HIGHLY recommend charting your BBT. "Normal" cycles are typically 25-35 days... your 40-day cycle could be perfectly normal & ovulatory, or it could be a sign that you're not ovulating, and all you get after 40 days is anovulatory bleeding. Without a few corroborating BBT charts, it's impossible to tell; and the BBT chart can confirm O, which a fertility monitor does not do.

Good luck to you!

I have the CPE fertility monitor and yes, to your question, you would O much later. I have a 34 day cycle and according to my monitor I got high days on cd18 and cd 19 (you'll get two peak days then it will give you another high then it returns to low). You're fine, keep bding though to cover all basis.

I just started charting BBT and OPK testing this month. I found out that I O on CD10 in a 28 day cycle! I always assumed that I was like most others and I O on CD14 or so, but nope! Maybe we'll have better luck conceiving, now that we know when to BD!
