MY HUSBAND & I HAVE BEEN TTC FOR 18 MONTHS. I HAS ON THE PILL FOR 5 YEARS PRIOR. SINCE GOING OFF THE PILL I HAVE HAD NO LUCK GETTING PREGNANT, GAINED 30 POUNDS, AND HAVE TERRIBLE MOOD SWINGS. ALSO MY CYCLES ARE VERY IRREGULAR, ABOUT EVERY 45-75 DAYS. ANYWAY, I SAW 2 DR., AND THEY BOTH SAID THAT I SHOULD NOT WORRY, THAT I STILL HAVE TIME. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY ADVICE???

First you need to go to a OB/gyn and have them so a few hormone time so see if there out of wack. If they are they can help you with that.

Also start charting to see if you are Oing.

Once you do all of that and if there still nothing wrong have DH get a SA maybe it's him.

I will say start there if they still don't see anything there still a few more test you can do to see if anything wrong.

I think more then likely your hormones are out of wack and it just need time to get back to normal.

Wish you the best of luck

You've been trying for 18 months, so I'd say it's time for some more aggressive treatment. I agree with everything the previous poster said - you need bloodwork (prolactin, FSH, LH, etc.), a semen analysis, and you should start charting your temps.

Beyond that: CONSIDER SWITCHING TO A DIFFERENT DOCTOR. If they don't think this is a big deal - that you "still have time" - you'll never get the care you deserve.

Good luck to you!

I agree~ definitely consider finding a more aggressive doctor. I have heard recently that women who have been on bcp for years can have the same difficulty that you are having trying to conceive. Funny how they don't tell us it can take that long. I think it's worth looking into ASAP. It's not like there are no options for you. These doctors don't understand the emotional impact this kind of month-to-month wait has on women. Good luck with everything! Let us know what happens.

I agree with the others. I think you should first get a new OB/GYN and also look up either a reproductive endocrinologist or a perinatologist. They will help you figure out what's going on with your body. I think 18 months of trying to conceive qualifies you to get some fertility testing done. Good luck!

90% of couples get pregnant with in 12 months of trying, the other 10% of us need some type of fertility treatment. It doesn't matter that you were on the pill for 5 years. Find an OB/GYN who will listen to you and demand a fertility workup. You deserve it!! The month to month emotional roller coaster is so frusterating and draining, and you are not alone. You really need to have that workup, don't buy the "you have plenty of time" line, because you never know. Good luck to you.
