What do you think my chances are?

I think I've messed up this time round! This cycle I was determined to learn how to monitor my CP and CM as it's had me totally mystified for ages. So I did some reading and even got a speculum. Also this month I wanted to wait to BD until the last minute so that DH would be sure to be keen, as last month we BD as soon as my period ended and then stopped too soon 'cos he'd had enough!

My previous cycle was just 26 days, usually it's about 28. So by the calendar I expected to ovulate on day 13 or 14.

On day 11, there seemed to be a mucous plug released from the cervix, which still felt low, hard and dimpled.

On day 12 no CM at all really - just slightly creamy.

On day 13 most of the day NOTHING, just like day 12. At one point there was a tiny amount - REALLY TINY - of stretchy, thick CM. I thought the cervix was softening and opening very slightly but couldn't be sure. I hoped by day 14 there would be better signs, at least SOME CM! At 6pm on day 13 I had a short spell of sharp cramping.

On day 14 my temps were up!

So I think I must have ovulated when the cramping happened on day 13.

Now the crunch is we didn't BD until day 14, we did it at 6am and again at 1pm.

All the advice I've read says that if you wait to BD after your temps are up, it is too late.

But if I DID ovulate at 6pm and we made love 12 hours later, I'm hoping the egg would still be alive and we might be in with a chance.

What do you think?

okay as far as the cm...I would definetly consider using robutussin...so you could be easier on telling...do you use opk's or have you considered it...and as far as the bding...sperm can live for up to 5 days in ewcm...and if you bd on o or day after there is still a chance of fertilization up to I believe 24 hours after o...I know I am pushing this it seems..but if any of you women do have money to spend for the desperation of having a baby...I seriously recommend the Clear Plan Fertility Monitor..once you use it..you will be so glad you got it..especially if you are planning on having more than one baby...and if you are not..you can resale them..they are very marketable on ebay

Hi Angelia,

Thank you so much for the advice. I am going to start using robutussin next cycle, and try to drink a lot more water as I read somewhere that helps too.

I've never tried an opk yet, and haven't seen the Clear Plan here (I'm in the UK). The makes I've seen are Acon, Clearblue and Persona. Do you know what the things to look out for are in these kits?

One of my big challenges is DH gets real tired of BD'ing too often. So I need to pinpoint ovulation to within a couple of days - if we start too early he'll rarely keep up BD'ing every day. If my CM is scant, I think every other day is not often enough.

Thanks again for your help!

I am not sure on the labels you have mentioned above...the Clear Plan Feritility monitor is a little computer that will help quite drastically in figuring out the ovulation cycle...plus it does take the guess work out of it...If you want one...they are expensive but you can get them over the internet at either ebay or straight from the factory of Clear plan...

you don't have to worry about the everday bd...actually this can set you back a little because having sex everday can lower a man's sperm count...so if he will give in every other day...that is just as well also

and note...yes drinking plenty of liquids during taking the robutussin does help alot..I personally didn't like water...so I drank green tea...which helps with the antioxidants to lessen the chance of miscarriage by keeping down chromosonal abnormalities..

hope you get what you are looking for soon..
