Hi ladies- Wondering if I could get some feedback about this-l

ast month I thought I did everything right- had a + OPK, bd'd plenty before and after, etc. Well, 7 dpo my bb's became huge (very laid back dh even noticed), I was salivating constantly, engulfed in fatigue, and frequently breathless. This went on for about 4 days, during which I was ecstatic, thinking, yay, this is it, we're pg!

Then, my bb's shrank, fatigue left and af showed up on day 29 as usual. I was devastated.

Anyway, I'm going to the dr on Tues and want to ask her about this strange episode. Could it be that there was fertilization but no implantation? Has this happened to anyone else?

I have no history of pelvic surgery or endometriosis. I had some u/s's in the past couple of years that revealed no blocked tubes or other abnormalities. Thanks so much for reading and any feedback!!!!!!

I don't think any of us can really say what happened in your last cycle. Even when we do everything right, the chances of getting PG in a cycle are still just 15-25%. There are so many little intricacies involved in getting PG it's amazing!

That said, it's possible to have what's called a "chemical pregnancy" and still get your AF on time. When that happens, fertilization & implantation both take place (and the HCG gets in your system and may cause some symptoms), but something goes wrong with the embryo - the cells stop dividing, the sac doesn't form, etc. In many cases, AF comes on time or just a day or so late, and no one is ever the wiser.

I just experienced a chemical pregnancy myself - I had cravings for jalepeno peppers (and I don't even like them!), and the most odd breast soreness of my entire TTC experience. This went on for about 5-7 days, but the cravings went away, and so did the breast soreness. My +HPT was quickly followed by a -HPT... had I not tested, I really would have never "known." (Aside from my lovely chart and a deep-down suspicion.)

Good luck to you!

Hi Tami!

Thank you for your reply! I am sorry to hear about your experience with the chem. pregnancy- what a true letdown.

It is a truly intricate process, and so many ambiguous sx's!

I feel a bit more sure now going to the dr's; I'll ask her about chemical prgenancies.

Have a great week! Anne c3 cd8 ttc#1

Hi Anne! Pg symptoms are cause by two things....a rise in the progesterone level and hCG(pg hormone) being released into the system. Many of us mistake symptoms caused just by our regular progesterone levels post "o", but it sounds like yours was more than that. It is my opinion that fertilization and implantation probably did happen to give you these RPS, but unfortunately it didn't stick. This is what is referred to as a chemical pregnancy or early m/c. It is quite common and you need to look upon it as a good indication that you and DH can make a baby! The chances of conceiving and sustaining pg after this is greatly increased, so keep positive and I hope we are celebrating a nice **STICKY** BFP from you soon!

Hope this helps~ ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))
