What is the normal progesterone level?
| Thu, 09-25-2003 - 5:14pm |
Hi everyone,
I just got the results of my progesterone test back and it was at 22. The doc said this was normal, but I'm just curious what the normal range is. Is this low-normal, high-normal etc. Can anyone help?

Looking at your chart, I'd say you Oed on cd 20 (the temp rise) did you get a +OPK or did you not use one since you had the cd 21 progesterone test to confirm it? I am going on the clomid this cycle (right now af just started today) so I take it cd 5-9 (only 4 more days!!!) and then like you, I will also on cd 21 go and get the same blood test. I see this is your 3rd cycle on clomid, I have irregular and very long cycles (35-40 days) and have skipped a month before so even though this is only dh and my 2nd month ttc doc went ahead and put me on it. I thought this month I'd need Provera to induce this af and sure enough on cd 35 she came (I am glad, did not want to do Provera for 10 days to induce the bleed.) My doc started me on 100mg of clomid. What was your starting dose 50mg? My doc feels her patients O better on 100mg rather than 50mg but her opinion only. I will take them at bed time to sleep through any side effects I might get.
Do you usually O so late on the clomid (cd 20 or so)? Just wondering if you have naturally long cycles like me about 34-35 days each month to get an O day of 21. My doc said the clomid should shorten my cycles to somewhat of a "text book 28 day) and O on or around cd 14-16. Are your O dates different each month for the past 3 mo. since you've been on clomid? Just curious if you always O on cd 20. Weird. My doc said after I finish the last pill on cd 9, 5 days later I "should" O and I have the CP fertility monitor to also detect my "peak fert. days" to ensure I get the LH surge which is said to be very accurate even on clomid.
Just wondering how you like the clomid and also wanted to say your chart looks very, very promising as your temps have stayed high since you Oed and you know what they say about consistantly rising temps right? Any other symptoms, you are 7dpo and some girls have some by now. Let me know, it seems to be your month since you on cc #3. My doc will only keep me on it for 3 cycles she said. Have you had any hyperstimulation in your ovaries since you're on such a high dosage?
TIA for your help with answering any q's re: clomid.

cd 1 AF is here!!!
starting 1st cycle of clomid on cd 5-9
I'm almost positive that I o'd on cd19 because of the O pain as well as using OPK and the CP fertility monitor. I had the blood test 6 days after O. I'm on clomid because I hardly ever O on my own (maybe 4 times a year). I started at 50mg-O'd on cd21, then moved up to 100mg-didn't O, now I'm at 150mg. I haven't had any hyperstimulation, just noticeable O pain. Yes, I'm having some symptoms that I'm trying to ignore so I don't drive myself crazy, but here they are: sore nips/slightly sore bb's, a strange pain right above my pubic bone-like a pulled muscle, more hungry than usual, and lots of creamy CM. I'm really hoping this is it, but I still have another week to wait. My doc told me that if this cycle doesn't do it then she's sending me to an RE for more tests etc. Good luck to you-I hope clomid works out for you! Thanks for responding!

I'm sorry, I met to say you Oed on cd 19, I was looking at cd 20 to confirm you Oed and due to the temp increase it sure does look like it. Ok, I predicted my girlfriends pg last week and she was indeed pg after she listed to me the SAME symptoms you had. Yes, yes those are true positive signs especially, especially the creamy cm and sore bb's. I've been pg before (long time ago when I was 17, now 29--gave her up for adoption to a wonderful family-too young to support her, still in HS) so I KNOW "most" symptoms you should get and yes, they differ from woman to woman, but what I told my friend was that for most all women, they are almost all the same especially the sore bb's mid-cycle (I get sore nipp's a week before af NEVER mid-cycle after Oing and not for 7 days) and the creamy cm is ALWAYS usually a sign.
Let me ask you, when did you notice the cm and how much of it is there? Can you see it in panties and when you check cp (if you do that) do you feel a lot up there? Are your bb's sore at the tops or bottoms and the nipps? Are you areloa's (spelling) darkening at all or any veins? You do NOT need to feel nauseous at all to be pg, I didn't not one time from beginning to end, never, ever threw up in nine months.
I'm not trying to scare you and/or give you false hope but I truely think you're pg, based on your temps and symptoms and kind of symptoms they are.
What do you think? I don't even know you but I am so freaken excited for you to test. I don't think you have to wait a whole nother week, I think you could safely test within the next 5 days for sure.
GOOD LUCK AND I FEEL YOU'RE PG...........SORRY JUST MY OPINION... AND I WAS RIGHT WITH MY FRIENDS....

Now you're getting me all excited! I really hope I'm pg, but I guess time will tell. About the CM-I have a lot of it-especially when checking cp, but it's also in the panties as well. It actually started 1dpo, so I don't know what that means. My BB's are sore mainly around the edges-pretty much all around, but mostly on top and near the armpits. No darkening aereolas or veins yet. Yeah, there's no way I'll be able to wait 7 whole days to test, I'll probably test in 5 or 6-we'll see. Do you know anything about the pulled muscle feeling in the lower abdomen? I never really heard anything about that before. If I'm not pg, I have no idea what it is. Thanks for being excited for me, I'll keep an eye out for your posts this cycle.
Jen
You can get all excited, if you're not pg, I will be STUNNED! Yes, the "pulled muscle" feeling is also a sign, I have read MANY women get that feeling. It's a part of the implantation of the embryo from what I heard and read. It has also been known as a "tugging" feeling. Your sore bb's DEFINATELY a positive sign exactly where you said they hurt...mostly around the edges at the armpits (thats where mine hurt) the sore nipp's came later around 4-6 week with the soreness all over and those bb's hurt like HELL. I am going to bet at this point 95% that you are. I bet within two days if you tested with FR you'd get a faint line b/c your symptoms are so prominent. Any cramping or light spotting? Not everyone get's the "implantation bleeding" but my friend did around 10-12 dpo, I can't remember if I got it since it was over 11 yrs. ago.
Can I ask how old you are and where you're from? I am 29, dh turns 30 this Saturday the 27th and we've been married since 11-2-02 from MI. This is only our 2nd cycle trying like I said so no big disappointments as it has not been that long and the first cycle we ttc, I was not realizing I Oed as late as cd 21 so I missed our O date, we bd the week of O but apparently not enough or the sperm died quickly. Plus, I did not have my fert. monitor or use OPK's that month (it was kinda a fun practice month..now were full force)
How long total, including the clomid rounds have you been ttc #1? Do you feel it's too soon that I'm on clomid being that it's only our 2nd month? If I were more regular I might of not opted for this so fast. How long did you ttc without clomid? When you confirm you pg (b/c I feel you are) this baby will be conceived from clomid right? I heard it takes "most" women about 3 clomid cycles to conceive from it and this would be your 3rd cycle right? WELL..it's your time Jenn!
Also, one quick q for you...before you O, do you get that cm or ewcm during your fertile time? My monitor gives me the LH surge that I will be Oing soon but I NEVER have any cm or ewcm other than being at the top of my cervix when I check it. Do you have an abundance of it like all the other girls have? I have none before O or after, at least none in my panties. I just bought some pre-seed to help the sperm have more "fertile cm" to live in. Just curious. Also, if you do have cm or did, did the clomid dry it up? I know that can be a side effect.
Thanks so much Jenn. One more thing..sorry, when you do "confirm" that your pg next week (or this weekend :-), will you post a special post to me so I know, I will be so excited just knowing I knew somehow and want to say congrats!!!
Trust me Jenn, this IS your month. Use First Response, E.P.T. or CBE preg. tests, those seem to show the earliest faintest lines but a faint line is usually a bfp and within days it darkens. Then your blood test will confirm! Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'm 25-will be 26 in October, DH is 25, TTC #1, I'm on my 11th month of trying. We've been married since 12-30-00 and have been together since we were 16. We live in St. Charles, MO which is just across the Missouri River from St. Louis county. No, I don't think you started clomid too early. As long as your doctor approves I think it's great. Before I O I do normally get EWCM-not in abundance, but it's there when I check CP. My doctor has me on Guaifenesin, which is the main ingredient in robitussin, to increase CM. I have noticed that at 150mg my CM was much less. I also drink a lot of V8 Splash to increase CM. I will definitely put up a post just for you if I get my BFP this cycle. Hey, where in MI do you live? My mom has a place in Arcadia, which is about an hour south of Traverse city. We vacation there in the summer. It's right on lake michigan. I absolutely love it there! Ok, I better head to work. Talk to you later!
