When do temps start dropping or rising?

Hello girls. I'm currently cd21 and dpo9. I thought that I had this chart thing figured out, but after reading a couple of posts, I'm a little confused again. If I'm not pg when will I start to see my temps drop. I know before AF, but how soon, at 10 dpo or more like 12dpo? Also, I've heard temps are suppose to keep rising if you are pregnant. Mine are pretty much holding steady give or take a 10th or two. Is this okay, or should I rise everyday if pg?

Here's my chart, tell me what you think.

Hi Susan,

Last cycle was my first month charting. But I think the temp dropping thing varies among women. In other words, I don't think theres an absolute steadfast rule about dropping. Take a look at my chart. See what you think. My temps dropped one day before AF arrived. However, the morning they dropped(significantly) I had spotting the minute I got up to go to the bathroom. I think charting is definitely the way to go. It pretty much told me with no uncertainty that I wasn't preg. I knew that before I even saw that I had started spotting. I knew it by the temp alone. Unfortunetly it wasn't the outcome I was hoping for. But I'm trying to keep my chin up. Good Luck to you!! Marcy

P.S. When you click on my chart..make sure to scroll down to see my last cycle. I just started AF today. So that is the first chart showing. Look for the one below it.

That's a good question Susan. I'm new at this as well so I'll give it my best shot. I believe your temps are suppose to stay higher after O than your pre-O temps and that is what your coverline is for I believe. Everyone has said that right before AF, like the day before or the day of is when your temp drops, but it will be a significant drop. I think this is right as far as my understanding.

I think it is one of those things that is different for everyone. For me...My temps do not drop until the morning AFTER AF begins. Then they drop slowly and take 2-3 days before all the way down. My luteal phase tends to be a long 14-15 days--driving me crazy with baby wishes as each day passes. Good Luck to you!

HI Susan!

I can't really answer your question because I have just started charting this month myself. I did want to say that I remember reading somewhere that women often have a little estrogen surge post-O that can result in a dip in temps in the leutal phase. Also, sometimes, some women see and implantation dip in temps on their charts - biology is cruel because I think that these two things (estorgen surge and implantation dip) happen around the same time in a in the LP. TCOYF is a great book and I am just reading it now; it says that 18 post-O high temps above the coverline are an indication of PG.

Finally, I wanted suggest doing a search of the chart gallery on FF to see pregnancy charts from lucky ladies who acheived pg. I have been peeking at them to see what a pg chart looks like. I know that everyone is different, but I think it's good to get ideas about what pg charts look like. HTH

All the best to you this month!

Julie :)
