I've posted on this board a few times over the past four months as my DH and I have been TTC.
I went off the pill in July and my cycles have been super long ever since. I finally caved and went to see my OB yesterday. She was optimistic due to the fact that I have a 4 yr old daughter, but she wanted to put me on an infertility regimen just in case. She talked about testing to see if my tubes were blocked, doing some blood work and then putting me on a Clomid cycle. I left the office feeling rather defeated as I didn't want to start everything so close to the holidays. She wanted to put me on Provera to bring on a period, but she wanted to ensure that I wasn't pregnant before doing so. I went in for blood work yesterday and I didn't hear back from the doctor today. I was disappointed, but I also knew that there was no way that I was pregnant- after all, I was on day 59 of my cycle with no period in sight.
My DH and I were sitting around after dinner tonight and discussing our frustration over the upcoming fertility tests. He asked me to use a FRER test I had on hand just in case. Sure enough, I got a BFP within seconds!
Well, that wasn't enough for us. He went out to CVS and got a double pack of tests. I've taken both of those as well and they show as a BFP! So, three tests. All BFP.
So here's my crazy question- I know it is a stupid one, and I apologize in advance. I just need to know if I can trust three positive preg tests. Is there anyway that I could get a false positive? I just need some reassurance....

Wow- thanks so much! I think I am still in shock!
This truly is a bizarre scenario. I can't believe I was just at the doc yesterday exploring my options regarding infertility. Perhaps that is why the BFP(s!) seem so surreal.
What's even more strange is that DH and I had a conversation last night about going through all of the procedures my OB mentioned. He was hoping that we could conceive the old fashioned way and take preg tests at home. He wanted the surprise and the celebration without factoring in medical intervention. We can't even wrap our heads around the fact that the ideal scenario has unfolded this evening.
Thanks SO much for the advice! I will call my OB on Monday and confirm that my blood work shows a BFP. I feel confident though- the three FRER tests seem like a solid confirmation.

Hi Twin,
My cycles have been really out of whack since I went off the pill...
Stopped the pill on 07/06/08
Withdrawal bleed 07/10/08
First natural cycle 08/09/08 (31 days)
Second cycle 09/27/08 (50 Days)
And no periods ever since. I purchased a OPK kit (Target brand) and I never received a positive result. There was some user error there, though. I tried to be frugal and take an OPK every other day. I probably missed the surge.
I did take a preg test on 10/31/08. That would have been a week after my cycle was due, assuming it jumped back onto a 28-day track. It was negative and I just assumed I was in for another long cycle.
I lost my patience once I hit 50 days and my cycle hadn't started. I thought I was on the verge every day! My BBs were sore, my abdomen was a little tender and I was really tired. Those are PMS symptoms for me and it made me mad every day that I was experiencing some light cramping with no period in sight! So, I made an appointment with my OB and met with her on Thursday.
I was going to start temping once the Doc gave me provera to start a cycle.
This is especially crazy because I had a really, really hard time getting pregnant with my daughter. It took me four years with no birth control and very irregular periods to finally get pregnant. It's amazing that everything has fallen into place in just four months!
