I had been going to a male OB/GYN for my whole life (well, my whole having PAPs life, anyway!), but sort of by accident I recently switched to another person in his practice. I made an appointment with my originial male doc when I found out I was pg, but to my surprise was greeted by their mid-wife Laurie and had an appointment with her. She was wonderful. I always felt like my old doc was competent and relatively compassionate, but I seem to connect much more with the mid-wife. Now, I don't know if it's because she has the mid-wife frame of mind or becuase she's a woman that I like her more...or just because we connect...who knows, it's possible that there are male docs out there that I would also connect this way with, but I haven't met them yet! I think it's such a personal decision...you really do need to shop around until you're completely comfortable. Good luck to you!

Cheers!

I had male obs when I was younger but when I started at this company (3 years) the only ob I could find close to my office with hours I could make was a woman. I loved it. She knew everything I was talking about. She knew what I meant when I said the pre-AF feeling you get and other things like that. I know a male ob has been told what it feels like, but he will never go through it! I'm sold on female doctors! I even go to a female PCP because I feel they understand better!
