A Year of Trying
12
Fri, 11-16-2012 - 7:15pm

I hit my year of ttc yesterday, officially.  I'm in cycle 13, but a year ago yesterday was cd1 of cycle 1.  To celebrate I had my annual check up at the OB :)  6 months ago she ordered blood work, hsg, and sa.  Finally got it all completed. Everything is normal (well, DH's swimmers are at a slight low count, but nothing to be concerned with - just a bit below average, so she said to bd every other day NOT everyday).

Next step is Clomid, but I'd need to come in for an US on cd3 and cd12. The problem is that I don't have fertility coverage on my ins plan, so each visit would be $300, so $600 for the month.  Ouch.  I almost broke down in tears at checkout when I heard this, but still kept my cool.  About an hour later I got a call from my doctor.  She is going to discount each visit by $100. I love her.

We will wait and see what happens this month. Depending on when AF starts, we may just wait an additional month then start Clomid in Jan.  I think my timing of AF will put cd 12 at xmas eve or xmas.  I'd rather just relax over the holidays and start fresh in 2013.

So good news I guess.  But more just wait and see. Oh yeah, and a whole lotta BD'ing :)  Hope everyone else here is doing well!!

Hi Brooke!

It's been a while! Glad you updated. I'm sorry that you have hit the year mark; that's a tough hurdle. Sounds like you are making a plan though, and I think that's a good thing!

We kind of feel the same about the end of the year; if we don't get our BFP this cycle (my last cycle on clomid) then we will wait until after the new year to decide what to do next. We think a break will be a good thing at this point! We will hit our two year mark at the end of February.

Hopefully this cycle will be it for you though, so you don't have to worry about that additional cost for clomid. That's crazy! I think I am very lucky- my insurance doesn't cover infertility treatment, but it does cover treatment of the underlying causes, which has really saved us some money so far.

So FX for you!!

Hi Kristin! My doctor is going to try and creatively bill ins, so hopefully it will be covered. If not I'm just glad to know we have a plan b :) I hope this cycle works for you. How many cycles of clomid have you done? I also hope this holiday brings a lot of bfps to this board. It's definitely due for some! Thanks for your reply. It's been so quite here lately. Brooke

I understand the frustration. We are at 16 months since the first month of TTC. But since we have managed to get pg twice my doctor doesn't want to start more testing until we are a year out from our last miscarriage. So at least your doc is willing to start something. Maybe this will be it for you!

Hello ladies!

Long time "no see' I am still here with you all two. It has been 18 long cycles gor me (Since July 2011). So, 16 months total. We are unexplained infertility as all of our labwork and s/a, HSG, and alike come back great. So, we have tried 2 rounds of Clomid and IUI. I have great response to the Clomid and both times have produced 3-4 eggs over the 18mm mark and still BFN. We have decided to switch RE this month, so we are taking this cycle off while we get all the authorizations ready for our new clinic Shady Grove Fertility (they are very big here in the east coast). Anyways girls, I just wanted to let you all know I am sitll hainging around here.

I'm definitely here with you at the year mark, too.  I'm glad you have a plan!:). I am due for my annual exam, I just keep putting it off.  I think I'll call today and set something up...For some reason, I am not authorized to comment on my own post in the TWW section, so Brooke, I'll answer your question here--if my temps stay up and I don't have any spotting, I'll test Thursday--that's 12DPO.  I only have one test left, otherwise I'd test tomorrow, lol.

Amen to that!! To answer your earlier question, I have done 5 rounds of clomid. And my Dr. will only prescribe 5 rounds, so this is it for now.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thanks everyone! Kristin, my doc will do three, then I don't know. So we'll want til Jan to start and just take things one month at a time. It feels good to know we can try two more months on our own, then we'll have some help. We'll see what is meant to be. Happy Thanksgiving girls!!!
