I had an HCG shot 2 weeks ago today. The dr. told me not to test until Oct 1st but I did anyways. hehehe Couldnt handle it any longer plus I really wanted a neg so I knew if I got a BFP that it really was a BFP. Well I just tested and got a BFP so do you think it could still be from the HCG shot?

I have no personal experience with trigger shots, so really can't help too much.

Found the following on the POAS ~ HPT FAQ, which supports your assumption of a 10-day time frame:

44. How long does it take synthetic hCG (trigger shot) to leave my body before I can test for pregnancy? Every woman's metabolism is different, but as a general rule of thumb, you should allow 1 day for every 1,000 units of hCG you injected. The standard hCG dose is 10,000 units; thus, 10 days after the shot, the synthetic hCG should be gone and you should be able to test for pregnancy without detecting the shot. However, you should ask your doctor what the recommended protocol for your dosage is.

Some women choose to test daily to monitor the presence of the hCG in their bodies; once the synthetic hCG is gone, the tests become negative. If the hCG "comes back" and the HPT's turn positive again, it's likely due to a pregnancy and not the leftover hormone shot.

Soooo, I guess if I were you, I'd try to remain cautiously optimistic.

If your HCG was 14 days ago, you are about 12 days post ovulation...right? The HCG should be out of your system...I'd say you have a BFP on your hands!!

I know I am a bit of a "test-aholic" and with all my IUIs I had HCG. I generally start to test around day 10 post IUI (which is day 12 from HCG) and always negative...then postitve around 12-13 on my BFPs.

I hope this is it for you! YAY!

When I would get my shots, the longest they stayed in my system was 11 days. Usually, they were out by 9 days. Do you know if you had 5000 miu (half bottle) or 10,000 (full bottle)? The full bottle will usually stay about 10 days, less for the half bottle.

I have never had the shot, so also can't say for sure. But I remember when another TTCAM member (Chelle) would get the shots, sometimes she would test it out until it turned BFN and that was definitely less than 2 weeks.

So I agree, I would be cautiously optimistic at this point! I really hope this is your BFP!

You are testing again tomorrow, right?

Do you think that if you called your doc's office tomorrow and told them about the BFP(s), they'd be cool with ordering a pregnancy serum test and betas for you?

That is funny you asked that. I wasnt going to call the dr yet but my husband did and we are waiting for a call back. I dont know what they will say. My husband out right asked them for the blood work to see what is going on. He is way to excited about this. With us not knowing for sure or not. The dr. at our last visit said the next step was IUI and he wasnt happy about that. So he thinks his little guys swam extra fast and hard to make sure he got it done. LOL

Just got off the phone with my dr and they said it still can change to a negative but most likly we are. I am going for bloodwork on Saturday because that is the soonest it will be high enough to say for sure and will have another draw on monday. Now this waiting is even harder.
