Ultrasound @ 5wks0days

Well I'm not sure if I feel better or not, but at the ultrasound today we didnt see anything but a sac. The ultrasound tech wasnt the least bit worried and assured me it is just way too early, but I know my Dr wanted to see the yolk sac. I keep telling myself not to worry and just wait for the next one which is hopefully only 2 weeks away. I am attaching a pic for those of you that have had U/S this early to analyze. I still have no bleeding or spotting which is a super positive sign!

I know when I was PG my doctor didn't want to set up the initial ultrasound until week 7. I think 5 weeks is still early. Hang in there.

Yay Amanda! That looks like a great 5w0d picture! Honestly you can't really expect to see much more than that at that stage! I had an u/s with my DD at 5.5 weeks and they couldn't even see the sac. It was a brand new, top of the line u/s machine at the hospital and it was transvaginal and it looked like the black freaking hole in there! Not a thing to see! So I think you're doing great!

Thats really all you should see now which is why an u/s that early is so hard.
When I had my 5w u/s cuz I was bleeding, my sac was odd shaped. Yours is nice & round! :)

I think the sac looks perfect....I might even see what looks like a yolk sac...but I'm no expert. Soooooo much could change in the next week or two though....it's amazing how fast these LO's grow at this early stage.

Hang in there.

My doc says no yolk sac until 5 1/2 weeks. I had one at 5 weeks 5 days with sac and yolk sac----and then one today at 6 weeks 6 days with fetal pole and heartbeat. It just takes time, and even a day or two is a ton in fetal development at this stage. I think this sounds just right----and I can't quite believe your doc had you come in this early!

Thanks for your input ladies! After googling 'ultrasound pictures @ 5 weeks' all day, I am feeling better. Like you guys have said, this seems normal for where I am. The doctor's office called and said they were thrilled to see a normal sac that is able to be measured. We wont have the radiologist's report until Monday or Tuesday, but she said they might see something the U/S tech doesn't. I too swear I see something at the bottom of the sac, but my DH thinks I'm hallucinating LOL.

Thanks!

We weren't able to see a yolk sac until 5w4d, and at just shy of 5 weeks, we could barely see what you have now on the ultrasound. I think that looks perfect for 5 weeks even!
