So last month I took large doses of two antibiotics to cure the endometritis which is "resolving".

On Monday I was working in the garden and got stabbed in the knuckle joint with a rose thorn. 48 hrs later it was hot, swollen, and very painful. Rather than go to the ER I waited to see my PCP this morning. He belives my joint is infected and if I don't respond to the large doses of two more antibiotics, then I'll have to go to a hand specialist for surgery and further treatment. I'm worried about taking so many antibiotics lately. With my medical and microbio background, I'm not usually one to take meds. I'll let colds/sinus problems, even upper resp infections clear themselves over time w/ supportive care. I can see that these two infections absolutely must have meds, I just regret it and worry about the close time frame.

Will it be ok to take 4 different antibiotics in two months?
First two: Cipro and Flagyl
Second two: Bactrim and Doxy

All of that is good to know. Thank you so much. I will definitely keep an eye on it in the days to come.

Wow, three doses so far and already a marked improvement. The swelling is about half of what it was and the pain is almost entirely gone. Such a relief! I did exact revenge on my nemesis big rosebush. I put on the new thick cow-hide gloves DH bought me and very slowly pruned it back to sticks and dug it out of the ground!

I've been eating it every day for the last two months! So far no YI.

OMG, I woke up this morning and the pain and swelling are coming back. Not as bad as right after the thorn stabbing, but noticeable. I guess I need to go back to my doctor. What's he going to do? Do you think this will interfere with TTC? We had JUST decided to try another IUI next cycle while we're waiting to

I'm not a medical person, but I would definitely go to the doctor and discuss your intentions and what they can do for you that wouldn't interfere with an IUI. I'd be scared, too. (((HUGS)))

Thanks
The Dr said that it is likely just that joints and tendons are slow-healing. She said this will probably always give me a little trouble over the years. She said that IF it is a fungal infection, they won't treat me for it anyway in case I'm currently pg, or soon to be. All I can do is hot compresses.
So we're back on! Crises averted. Or at least crisis ignored.

Oh, how frustrating. Really? A gardening scrape could end up causing you trouble for years? Wow! I'm glad that you can ignore the crisis and you're good to go for next month!
