Is it ok to diet while TTC?

I'm not talking anything drastic here. Just making better choices with the goal being to lose a few pounds?

I stepped on the scale the other day and about had a heart attack! I guess it's just easier to not think about (the weight gains).

A few years ago I did WW and lost 50 pds, and have managed to not gain any back, but it's slowly creeping back on. So, on Monday I started counting points again.

Would you do WW while TTC, or would you take a few months off and re-focus on weight loss and then TTC again? Just needing some opinions here. TIA!

YES, the type of diet you describe is perfectly fine while TTC. Limiting empty calories, fat and sugar are all very healthy things to do, and Im sure we could all stand to put more fruit/vegs and fiber into our diets. Whenever you do conceive, the diet can go out the window though :) I hope that WW works for you, it sounds like it has worked in the past with good results!

Haha, I've totally done the cabbage soup diet (FAIL) AND the Hollywood juice diet (even bigger FAIL). I need decent food in order to function normally. I so could not have an eating disorder! I love to eat and hate to feel hungry. That's what I like about WW. I don't, normally while doing it, feel hungry.

I agree that it is definitely ok. I noticed that in the last year of fertility treatments and 12 weeks of pg, I had gained 20 lbs. Like you, I lost a lot of weight years ago so I know how seriously alarming it is to see it coming back. So the last 3 weeks I have been REALLY strict about cutting calories, carbs, and fat. I have also upped going to the gym from 4 days a week to 6. I'm kinda sad I've only lost 6 lbs, but DH reminded me thats 2 lbs a week and slower weight loss lasts longer.
You can definitely do healthy things while TTC. I plan on keeping my food changes (1200-1400 calories per day) and will only change one thing about exercise. My RE and my OB have said not to let your heart rate stay over 140 after ovulation. The higher rate can mess with the implantation and/or embryo.

I'm in agreement with everyone else.
