Question of the day 4/7...

family... how many brothers and sisters do you have? are you the oldest? youngest? in the middle somewhere? do you wish you had any more or less? are you close to them, or do you wish you were closer?

I am the oldest at 33. I have a brother Kris who is 32 and lives in California - I wish we lived closer so we could be a bit closer. I have a brother TJ who just turned 21 on Monday... yikes!! And a brother Aaron who is 19. TJ and Aaron live with my dad about 7 miles away - we're in completely different generations, but we're still pretty close.

Only thing I wish was different... I wish I had a sister.

I have two sisters. I am in the middle. I think we have a good number with the 3 of us. We are pretty close, but they are at a different part in their life, single and dating. I am married with children, so much of the events they plan aren't kid-friendly. Once they start their families, I think we will become much closer...

I have two sisters - both younger. I don't know that I wish I had more or less. I do know that when my mom was pg with my youngest sister, I was 12/13 years old. She was not expected and I suppose I would have been fine with only having one sister, but I'm very glad to have my youngest sister, too.

I have a functional relationship with my middle sister (she and I are just over 3 years apart). To quote a friend of mine, "I love her when she is living in her hometown and I'm living in mine." We can e-mail and talk on the phone if it's something necessary or practical that we are discussing. We can't do idle chit-chat. We don't relate to one another on a personal level, really. She'll ask me for advice on certain topics and I'll do the same of her, but if it goes beyond the factual, non-personal stuff, then we really don't relate at all. I do wish we had a closer relationship, because at one point, we were starting to get close and it was so great to have those awesome personal conversations with her. But, then something happened in her life and all of that went away. I catch glimmers of that old closeness every once in a while, but it's always so fleeting.

As for my youngest sister and me, we get along pretty well. She's a freshman in college this year (she took a year off from school between high school and college) and while we can talk about just about anything, we're also quite different. We've always had kind of a parent/child relationship because of our age difference. Now that she's coming into her own as an adult, but a young adult at that, we're kind of at different stages in life, still. She's still quite naive about a lot of things. But, I also have a feeling that once she's kind of settled down from her "pie-in-the-sky" dreams/naivete, we'll probably have a fantastic relationship. I can't wait for that time! :)

So, we're similar in that I'm 33, as well and my youngest sibling is 19 (she'll be 20 later this month). I completely hear you on the different generations thing. LOL! My mom laughs because each of her three daughters are born in a different decade. I was born in 77, my middle sister was born in 81, and my youngest sister was born in 91. :)

that is so funny! I was born in 77, one brother in 78, one brother in 90, and the baby just turned 19 last month - born in 92. Isn't it weird seeing how different they are!!!

I am the middle of 3 girls. We are all just about 2 years apart, and incredibly close. One of my TTCAM fears is that my DD won't be as close with her sibling (which I can hopefully give her) because they will be 4 years apart. My sisters are some of my best friends. I'm 32, little sis is 30, big sister just turned 35 (and is pregnant with her first). We all got married within a year of each other and we all married friends of my big sister. It is so fun to be in our family!
